I can't say who my favorite is...

But I can say my 3 favorite segments are...

1-Pinky and the Brain
2-The Warners
3-The Goodfeathers (I like the film "The Goodfellas").

Just a suggestion: it might make for a more insightful and entertaining thread if we discussed why these characters/segments are our favorites, as opposed to just rattling off lists with no actual discussion behind them.

Inquiring minds want to know.

My favorite A! characters are without question Yakko, Wakko & Dot (I count group characters as one) and Slappy Squirrel. Their shorts were usually always consistently funny, unlike many of the other segments which were hit and miss.

The Warner sibs were great when they were done well; the fact that they had no real set premise, location or formula for their adventures often came back to bite them in later episodes, and in the wrong hands they could easily become a-holes (and indeed, in some shorts they were a-holes), but the good ones worked.

As for Slappy, she's probably my alter ego along with Daffy Duck. I loved the idea of a female toon who was a star along with Bugs and Daffy, and her shorts rarely disappointed. I always thought that Slappy should've gotten the spinoff show instead of Pinky & the Brain, who, while amusing, I've always found to be hugely overrated.

I also count a group of character as one. I pretty much like all of these for the same reasons. They can have a good story to them (more so the first two), good music/songs and good gags. Rita and Runt isn't as funny as the other two, but I like how they would incorporate broadway songs into the story line.

Yeah explianing why I pick these characters is probally a good idea. So here it goes...

1.Yakko- Reminds me of myself quite a bit. I love to crack jokes at times when I probally shouldn't. His one liners always make me laugh.

2.Rita- I LOVE HER VOICE. Her personality is also great. I love how no matter how upset she gets at Runt she still cares about him. It's nice to be able to tell how much cartoon characters care about each other.

3.The Brain- There is something about his determanation (Like Wile Coyote's) that is really rateable to me. Of course he is trying to takeover the world, and can be really mean to pinky, but his determantion is really likeable.

Re: 3 favorite Animaniacs Characters [In reply to] You Must Register Before You Can Post

Mine would have to be:

1. Yakko - He reminds me of a modern Bugs Bunny. He was more like Bugs than Buster Bunny from Tiny Toons was. He also has a bit of Daffy Duck in him, mainly with the zaniness he exhibits. Some of his one-liners are very reminiscent of Groucho Marx.

2. Wakko - Zanier than his brother, Wakko can get himself out of any situation with the use of his head, and whatever he manages to pull out of his bag or hat (literally). One of my favorite Wakko-centered episodes would have to be "Clown and Out", when Thaddeus Plotz hires a Jerry Lewis-sounding clown to visit Wakko for his birthday. Mr. Plotz had coulrophobia (afraid of clowns), but Dr. Scratchnsniff reveals that Wakko has it in the worst way. Some of the methods the "little puppy boy" uses are too hilarious.

3. Slappy Squirrel - She was created under the guise that she was a cartoon character from the same era as Bugs, Daffy, and the other Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies characters. She doesn't remind me of any WB character; she reminds me more of another squirrelly character that once worked for a lion: Screwy Squirrel. I think the main thing I like about her is she was created during the time when groups started forming and protesting violence in cartoons. I'd always believed this was Warner Brothers' answer to those protests, by showing how violence can help you survive. There were a few episodes where she encountered her old enemies, like Walter Wolf, and employs the same violence to get out of a sticky situation she used in her original cartoons. One of my favorite Slappy Squirrel cartoons would have to be "Woodstock Slappy", when Slappy and Skippy take a vacation in the country, but they end up on the farm that would host Woodstock. The banter between Slappy and Skippy of "Who's on Stage" is, of course, a direct parody of Abbott and Costello's "Who's on First".

In reality, a lot of the Animaniacs characters were modern versions of the classic characters. They often employed the same tactics their Golden Age counterparts used.

My summation on some of them:

Yakko Warner - Bugs Bunny
Wakko Warner - Daffy Duck
Dot Warner - Betty Boop
Slappy Squirrel - Screwy Squirrel
Brain - Wile E. Coyote; with Pinky, sort of like Hubie and Bertie
