Airing across three nights from Wednesday, December 26 through Friday, December 28 on the History Channel, The Dark Years uses original animation, archival footage and eyewitness accounts to bring to life colorful stories from the 1930s in Canada. Narrated by actor Maury Chaykin (Whale Music) and featuring the voices of some of Canadas best known actors, this playful three-part series revolves around an adventurous group of Canadian newsmen at a big-city newspaper. These spirited reporters set out to cover the major events of the decade, from record-breaking cross-Atlantic flights and the birth of the world-famous Dionne quintuplets to the slow march to war. All air times are at 8 p.m. EST. The Dark Years is a co-production between the National Film Board and Barna-Alper Productions. A good background article about the show appears in the Toronto Star -- the real-life newspaper at which the mini-series is set: www.thestar.com/entertainment/Television/article/286984
