Anyone remembers Filmation's Pinocchio movie?

Called Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night, it's a really dark continuation of Collodi's famous story and was released on the 25th of december in theaters back in 1987 from New World Pictures. It's more darker and scarier then Disney's version and has a solid cast but i also liked how it has better animation then any Filmation production so far including the voice of James Earl Jones. I saw this movie as a kid back in 1987 in a theater and scared the hell out of me. It can be viewed on youtube.com

A proposed weekday tv series with the talking insect characters in the "Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night" film was planned. "Bugzburg" would have been the title of the series. Unfortunately, Filmation was sold to L'Oreal Comestics in 1988 and had promptly shut down the studio...ending all of their productions. Filmation had planned a series of "updated" fairy tale theatrical films. Only "Pinocchio" and a "Snow White" update titled "Happily Ever After" were completed and released to video. I haven't viewed the "Pinocchio" remake yet. I do own the video tape but I have to remember where I stored it.

That one came to Boston, and played at the now closed Beacon Hill Cinema. I never saw it, cuz I figured nothing could beat the Disney version.
