"The Batman" nominated for 4 Daytime Emmy Awards You Must Register Before You Can Post

Kids' WB's "The Batman" and the PBS series "Between the Lions," which combines live action and animation, each received four nominations for the 35th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, and National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday.

The Daytime Emmy Awards will be telecast live from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre at 8 p.m. (ET) Friday, June 20 on ABC. This will mark the third time in the 35-year history of the awards ceremonies that the Daytime Emmys will be broadcast from Hollywood.

Produced by Warner Bros. TV, The Batman was nominated for outstanding special class animated program, outstanding achievement in sound mixing and outstanding achievement in sound editing. In addition, Kevin Michael Richardson was nominated for outstanding performer in an animated program for his voice role as The Joker.

WGBH's Between the Lions is up for Daytime Emmys for outstanding pre-school children's series, outstanding writing in a children's series, outstanding achievement in music direction and composition, and outstanding achievement in art direction/set decoration/scenic design.

For outstanding children's animated program, the nominees are Arthur (PBS), Charlie and Lola (Disney Channel), Curious George (PBS), Little Einsteins (Disney Channel) and Peep and the Big Wide World (Discovery Kids). Three of the series -- Arthur, Curious George and Peep and the Big Wide World -- were nominated for outstanding writing in animation, too.

Nominated alongside The Batman for outstanding special class animated program are Back at the Barnyard (Nickelodeon), The Backyardigans (Nick Jr.), Ben10 (Cartoon Network) and Disney My Friends Tigger and Pooh (Disney Channel). Back at the Barnyard and Disney My Friends Tigger and Pooh also received nominations for outstanding directing in an animated program.

Other nominees for outstanding directing in an animated program are Disney's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Disney Channel), Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks (PBS) and The Wonder Pets! (Nick Jr.).

Besides Richardson for his voice role in The Batman, four others have been nominated for outstanding performer in an animated program: Christopher Lloyd as The Hacker in Cyberchase (PBS); Eartha Kitt as Yzma and Jessica DiCicco as Malina, both in Disney's The Emperor's New School (Disney Channel); and Danica Lee as Ming-Ming Duckling in The Wonder Pets!

Rounding out the nominations for outstanding writing in animation are two PBS series, Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks and WordGirl.

Nominees for outstanding achievement in sound editing also include Curious George, Legion of Super Heroes (CW Network) and Loonatics Unleashed (Kids' WB).

For outstanding achievement in music direction and composition, other nominees are Barbie Fairytopia: Magic of the Rainbow (Nickelodeon), Legion of Super Heroes, Kids' WB series Tom and Jerry Tales and The Wonder Pets! Two of the nominees, Legion of Super Heroes and Kids' WB series Tom and Jerry Tales, were also cited for outstanding achievement in sound mixing.

Disney My Friends Tigger and Pooh and WordWorld (PBS) are among the nominees for outstanding achievement in main title design.

Two other partly animated shows from PBS also were nominated for Daytime Emmys. Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman was nominated for outstanding original song (the series theme song), outstanding achievement in single camera editing and outstanding writing in a children's series. Postcards From Buster is up for outstanding children's series.<BR
