Al Stetter, a layout artist on ABC's 1963 Beany and Cecil series, died January 27 in Burbank, California, almost eight months past his 100th birthday. Stetter was born in Pennsylvania in May 1907. He worked at Snowball Studios, which co-produced Beany and Cecil with Bob Clampett Productions. Art Scott and Terrell Stapp worked with him as the series' layout artists. He was an animator and assistant animator for Snowball and Disney from 1937 until his retirement in 1973. Stetter's sole film credit at Disney was as an animator for the 1957 short The Truth About Mother Goose. Directed by Bill Justice and Wolfgang Reitherman, it was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Subject (Cartoon). He was one of many effects artists who were involved in a draft of the 1940 short Put-Put Troubles, co-starring Donald Duck and Pluto.
