Bonfires

Though Guy Fawkes Day has came and went (11/5), what cartoons contained a Bonfire...or even Guy Fawkes? Because what I know is that Loopy de Loop made his theatrical debut ON Guy Fawkes Day!

Reminding me of the British children's rhyme: "Remember, remember the fifth of November. Gunpowder, Treason and Plot. I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason Should ever be forgot." One Fawkes-themed cartoon is Bonfire Night, a 1980s episode of Yorkshire Television's The Raggy Dolls. The Raggy Dolls explain the significance of November 5 to Claude, and set out to watch the fireworks display. Claude is captured by some boys who are planning their own bonfire in an abandoned paint factory. They tie Claude to a rocket, and light their bonfire, oblivious of the sparks, which set the factory alight. Hi-Fi calls the Fire Brigade, but before they arrive, a spark sets off the boys' box of fireworks and drives them away. In the commotion, the Raggy Dolls free Claude, just before a spark ignites the rocket. Bonfires, Broomsticks was one of Mary Norton's two books on which the 1971 Disney movie Bedknobs And Broomsticks was based.
