Chameleon question You Must Register Before You Can Post

Anyone know which cartoon had a chameleon in it and he changed colors until plaid was put behind him he said "I just can't do it"? I think it was a one off cartoon about different animals. Thanks for any help!

Re: Chameleon question [In reply to] You Must Register Before You Can Post

I recall this as a Warner Bros. one-off with spot gags, (therefore, likely a Merrie Melodie), but for the life of me, can't remember the title, either!

For what it's worth, there was a similar concept in several episodes of The Tick, in which the Caped Chameleon appeared. He could change colors to match the background...except in the case of plaid, of course.

actually, i think it may be one of the newer LT universe shows, like animaniacs or tiny toons. something just reminds me of those as opposed to the classic shorts. not sure tho.

It's definitely an older cartoon.

I haven't watched Animaniacs or Tiny Toons, and I remember this scene (and the chameleon's response to plaid) from quite a few years ago.

I remember watching it at least 25 years ago...oh that's scarey? After doing some digging I found something called "wacky wildlife" which is a Tex Avery toon. I think it may be it...still trying to verify though.

Re: Chameleon question [In reply to] You Must Register Before You Can Post

if it is a standard joke, as you indicated it could be, it may very well have popped up on one of the shows i mentioned. i know i have seen it recently and it was not a classic LT short or anything. i am betting it has made the rounds a copuple of times in various places.

The most recent version of the gag, that I've seen, is during the bloopers from Monster's Inc. with Randall in front a variety of doors. His comment, I think, was "Very funny" ....Smile

Fry: Ooh. "Big Pink." It's the only gum with the breath-freshening power of ham.
Bender: And it pinkens your teeth as you chew!
