No matter WHO's covered "Drift Away" in the past, NO ONE could surpass (in the wrong direction) country singer Narvel Felts' version, which appeared a few months after Dobie's: ".....I wanna get lost in your country song, and drift away....." ouch.

....and, of course, just a year later Buck Owens covered Dr. Hook's "Cover Of The Rolling Stone" as "COVER OF THE MUSIC CITY NEWS"! I trust songwriter Shel Silverstein gave his consent......?!
