As promised, here is the first of what I hope will be many "Cheap Reviews" here in the Animated Word. Dr. Cyclops' first review from last March can be found here. I will be adding as many of his previous reviews here as I can over the next few weeks, while he begins to compile some new material for the AW. As the good Doctor is not currently a moderator in the Big Cartoon Forum, he has consented to my copying his older material so that it may posted here on his behalf: (Originally Posted by Dr. Cyclops on 03/07/06): I want to start a thread about all those Public Domain DVDs and VHS tapes cartoon collections out there. I'll begin with Delta's Felix the Cat (2004): Felix in Hollywood Felix Doubles for Darwin Felix Goes West Felix Finds Out Felix All Puzzled Felix Monkeys with Magic Felix Gets the Can A Felix Comic The Goose that Laid the Golden Egg Neptune Nonsense The first eight cartoons are B&W and silent with music cues added. All show their age in film quality. Most of the distress is at the begining of each cartoon and gets better as the cartoon progresses. Still, there is some distress thoughout the length of each of these cartoons. The last two are poor copies of these original color cartoons from the Van Beuren Studio. Better copies are available on other PD collections. If the present compilation had consisted of all-silent, B&W cartoons I wouldn't be so disappointed with this DVD. It's the bad copies of the two color cartoons that really let me down!
