Dr. Cyclops' Cheap Review 07/07/06

Editor's Note: the following is a re-print of an earlier DVD review by Dr. Cyclops: Now this one I really liked: Little Lulu and Other Treasures from Genius Entertainment. This DVD was released in two package design formats, each DVD priced at just $1.00 USD: the first with a slim plastic case and the second contained in a card stock envelope. These differ in content in that the "slim case" also contains some B&W Van Beuren "Tom and Jerry" cartoons; not to be confused with those starring MGM's infamous cat-and-mouse team. Little Lulu: Chick and Double Chick Bargain Counter Attack A Bout With a Trout Loose In a Caboose Bored Of Education Musica-Lulu The Dog Show-Off Cad and Caddy Little Audrey: Tarts and Flowers Butterscotch and Soda Song of the Birds "Tom and Jerry" (a.k.a. "Dick and Larry" in some re-issue prints): Piano Tooners A Fireman's Life (Editor's Note: this may be a re-issue title for Hook and Ladder Hokum) In the Bag Pencil Mania A Swiss Trick Plane Dumb For a buck, this DVD rocks... A nice collection, although not without those PD flaws that many collectors will find intolerable. The Little Lulu cartoons are of rather good quality, considering that most of them are from Public Domain prints. The Little Audrey cartoons are only of average quality; I've seen these before. I have little interest in the B&W Van Beuren "Tom and Jerry" cartoons.
