Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone on here could help me track down a cartoon? It's called "Furies", and it was made by animator Sara Petty and was released in the late 1970s. From what I know of it, it's around 3-4 minutes long, was independently produced, and is an abstract pastel-animated film featuring two cats.
I've been trying to find and watch all of the cartoons featured in Jerry Beck's "The 50 Greatest Cartoons", and of all of the honourable mentions, "Furies" is the hardest to find online (at least from what I can tell.) The best I've found is the cartoon being included on some scattered compilation DVDs and some library collections, but I don't know if it's worth that much trouble to see. I know it's also been screened at some festivals.
Does anyone out there know of a download/streaming link or a reliable purchasing link for "Furies"? If anyone can help, feel free to reply!
Furies (1977) won the Ottawa International Film Festival Award for Films Shorter Than 3 Minutes. Sounds like it's worth seeing.
Sara Petty graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California (www.artcenter.edu/accd/contact.jsp). It's a longshot, but maybe someone there has her current contact info and can put you in touch with her.
