A Gummi Bears-like cartoon

Hi everyone I'm looking for a cartoon series of the 80's/early 90's, with the protagonists being some sort of talking animals (bear perhaps) whose duties are to protect dreams, and the main antagonist is some sort of "Lord Nightmare" who creates nightmares.
Also an easy one; a boy named Christopher who dreams himself exploring America throughout history. I can't find the English name of the cartoon though.

On the light side there is the Dreamaker. He's is an old wizard who's the caretaker
of the Dreamstone On the opposite side of the planet is the evil Zordrak who
creates nightmares and makes plans to steal the source of dreams away from .
the Dreamaker so he can become all powerful
