I was just watching this on YouTube and noticed there was no supervisor/director credit. Does anyone know which unit worked on this? Was Freleng still at MGM? There's lots of movement on the characters; sometimes it seems they're moving for the sake of moving. Mel Blanc is playing Long John and I think Danny Webb is the eagle at the end; he used to do gruff voices similar to that. F. Fox.

Dodsworth, You're right about Mel Blanc as Long John Silver; I instantly recognized his voice. I also believe that, yes, Friz Freleng worked on this one. IIIC, he didn't return to Warner Bros. until 1940. I'll try to add Blanc to the production credits here in the Database whe I have a free moment.

You're right about Mel Blanc as Long John Silver; I instantly recognized his voice. I also believe that, yes, Friz Freleng worked on this one. IIIC, he didn't return to Warner Bros. until 1940. I just pulled out my copy of Maltin and see that before this cartoon was released, Friz was credited with one, Bob Allen had a few and Bill Hanna had one. Then there are no director credits on several, then suddenly Friz is credited again. So I don't know what to think. I've never really looked at any of these carefully enough .. and I'm not expert anyway .. to see what different styles the directors had to guess who did this one. It seems odd that several cartoons would suddenly have no credits. My semi-educated guess is it's Danny Webb at the end of the cartoon but I can't say for certain. It seems if someone had a speciality voice, they'd wind up doing it at all the studios, which may be why Bernice Hansen seems to have landed everywhere. Dodsworth
