How much of an Anime 'fan/enthusiast' are you? You Must Register Before You Can Post

I'm a fan of Anime, a few channels on Cable here shows them all the time, but I don't watch them. I only own a few Anime, I don't think there's such a thing as a true fan, IE: only watches japanese dubbing, owns every single merchendise object, etc.

I own these DVDs, which is...:

Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
The Cat Returns
Pom Poko
Totoro
Howl's Moving Castle
Perfect Blue
The Twelve Kingdoms
Lupin the Third
Ghost in the Shell
Helsing
Kiki's delivery service
Requiem.

I like Anime enough to own a few movies, but I don't go out of my way to watch a show on TV, and I don't buy merchandise (besides gifts of HelSing shirts)

I prefer realistic, adult anime, with good art and no silly/gag stuff. I can not stand speedlines, excessive anti-gravity, bad voice-actors (japanese and english makes no difference, both bad VAs can be either japanese or english.)

I used to watch some eps of various shows with a friend, but ages ago, it was: Samurai Pizza Cats, Neon Genesis, etc. The newest one is Gravitation.

So after this lengthy ramble, what is everyone else's position as an anime fan?

Dusk, Thats a pretty good start on a nice collection. I say this as a 60 year old Anime Fanzee, who began watching and collecting in the late 1980's when everything was on VHS Tape not DVD's and who kow owns close to 8 or 9 hundred ,DVD's tapes ,series and movies. Yes I use to buy Subtitled Japanese tapes, but now DVD's let you view in English dubbed or Subtitled Japanese, or just Japanese, and yes much of the English voice casts are now quite good. No I do not consider my self a hard core fan eventhough I do sometimes watch Funamation on Satellite, and Adult Swim, there is much more to life then just Anime, other hobbies , like Amature Astronomy, sailing RC model boats, road biking etc. Enjoy! Nato.

My brother owns a Studio Gibhli collection (the one which finished with Spirited Away), the complete Evangelion series in VHS (he started collecting them when it first came out. Then it exploded commercially, and the movies got weird). We also have an assortment of weird stuff like
- Weather Report Girl (which was vaguely pornish)
- a four-episode bit about waitresses battling (which was also pornish and very cheesy, but the idea made us laff)
- Burn Up W (but only the first four tapes)
- Boogiepop Phantom (arguably one of the weirdest things we've picked up, but beautifully themed and postmodern)
- Macross Plus

Older anime is Robotech he taped years ago, and it's dubbed in Malay.

My own collection includes:
- Trigun
- Hellsing
- Gravitation
- Totoro, Spirted Away, Howl's Moving Castle
- Fake (movie)

I can't wait for Hellsing to be done in a few years.

You seem to be a shonen-ai fan. Two major shonen-ai titles there, not to mention that the character design in Hellsing could pass for pretty boys too.

BTW, the live action Weather Report girl did indeed have porn scenes in it. The other anime you didn't name is most likely Variable Geo- the contest to discover the toughest waitress in the world!

I used to be a shonen-ai fan. Gravi and Fake being leading titles. Descendents of Darkness too. That was a long while ago, though.

Variable Geo, yes! That's the name! We had a great time laughing at the concept!

It's Manga not 'Magna'. If you want to put out a big statement like that then at least explain why you hate it.
