Long-Haired Hare song titles? You Must Register Before You Can Post

I'm trying to find out the titles of the 2 songs Bugs sings that annoy Giovanni Jones the opera singer and the beginning of 'Long-Haired Hare'. I found out the first one "A Rainy Night in Rio" and got the sheet music for it, but the second tune is still a mystery.

"Bugs Bunny...she's a fancy stepper when she dances, go a see as skips and prances, my gal don't do no talking, dances even when she's walking... [Giovanni] 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 she dances all day long"

Any help? [unsure]

Welcome to the Forum, Ukulele Shima! (Can we call you Uke for short?)

I can't help you with the title of the second tune, but here's another unofficial transcription, this time from Looney Lyrics (http://home.nc.rr.com/tuco/looney/lyrics.html):

(Bugs has a harp)
She's a fancy stepper when she dances
Go and see her as she kippers and prances
My gal don't do much talking
Dances even when she's walking
(Jones ad libs) One and two and three and four she dances all day long
(Bugs) Oh my gal is a high part stepper
Ginger with salt and pepper
She's a fancy stepper when she dances
Go and see her as she kippers and prances

Music by Carl Stalling...as usual. However, Mike Maltese might have contributed the lyrics (he sometimes did that).

Those are not original songs (I betcha). Methinks those were just some trivial, random novelty songs that were plucked (parodn the pun) due to their style.:)

Re: Long-Haired Hare song titles? [In reply to] You Must Register Before You Can Post

I don't know about the lyrics in "long Haired Hare" but the tune is most certainly Barney Fagans's

"My gal is a high born Lady", an old minstrel tune ; lyrics follow (sorry about the racists words):

MY GAL IS A HIGH BORN LADY
(Barney Fagan)

Thar' is gwine to be a festival this evenin'
And a gatherin' of color mighty rare
Thar'll be noted individuals of prominent distinctiveness
To permeate the colored atmosphere;
Sunny Africa's Four Hundred's gwine to be thar
To do honor to my lovely fiancee,
Thar will be a grand ovation of especial ostentation
When the parson gives the dusky bride a way!

cho: My gal is a high born lady
She's black but not too shady
Feathered like a peacock, just as gay,
She is not colored, she was born that way,
I'm proud of my black Venus,
No coon can come between us
'Long the line they can't out shine this high born gal of mine.

When the preacher man propounds the vital question,
"Does ye' take the gal' for better or for wuss?"
I will feel as if my soul had left my body, gone to glory,
And I know my heart will make an awful fuss,
I anticipates a very funny feelin'
*****r's eyeball, like a diamond sure to shine,
But I'll bask in honeyed clover, when the ceremony's over,
And I press the ruby lips of baby mine)

Remarkable! Thank you for that steer as I'd never have guessed it. And the bowdlerized lyrics would have made it harder to find in a web search.

And, just to be complete, the tune Bugs plays on the tuba is "When Yuba Plays the Rhumba on the Tuba" by Herman Hupfeld.

Wow! That is obscure! Any chance you have the sheet music for it?
