Loonatics Unleashed Season Three.
|
|
|
According to Wikipedia, there will be a third season of Loonatics Unleashed. Although the airdates and network are unknown at this time, I expect to learn more about this latest development.

I heard that Loonatics Unleashed was officially canceled, and due to the poor reception that the series recieved, it seems unlikley that WB would uncancel it. Also, there won't be a Kids WB after September, so where would it go? 4KidsTV won't air it. The only place I could see it going to is Cartoon Network. Wikipedia is not always the most reliable source of information, because anyone can edit Wikipedia (Heck, I could go on there right now and say that Megas XLR has been renewed). The news of a 3rd season of Loonatics Unleashed is likely just the dream of whatever LU fanboy (or fangirl) who typed it, so unless there is a link to an official source, I would take anything that I read on Wiki with a grain of salt.

Oh lordy I hope not!

Bugs Bunny cartoons are not supposed to feature a lisping Viking rabbit hunter enthusiastically professing his operatic love for a bunny in drag.

Let's not spook the proverbial horses just yet. Until (or unless) someone can provide a link or a press release from a reliable source confirming this news (and in this instance, Wikipedia or some other message board do not count as 'reliable sources'), then I think it best that we just chalk this one up to the rumor mill.

"POOR RECEPTION?!" I'm sorry to say, but "Loonatics" had high reception and a gigantic fanbase right now! They have even more fanfics about the Loonatics than the regular Looney Tunes on fanfiction.net!

Doesn't anyone care about the classics anymore?

I'm sorry to say, but "Loonatics" had high reception and a gigantic fanbase right now! They have even more fanfics about the Loonatics than the regular Looney Tunes on fanfiction.net! A high volume of fan fiction alone isn't proof that a TV show has a chance of coming back. Both Teen Titans and X-Men: Evolution have HUGE amounts of fanfic, but those shows aren't coming back either. And sure, you might run into a few fans who liked the series, but the general opinion shared by most folks on the animation forums is that Loonatics was garbage. In any case, none of that is proof that Warner Brothers has any plans to un-cancel the series. WB will be ending Legion of Super Heroes after this (it's 2nd) season, and LoS was considerably better received than Loonatics Unleashed was. At the most, there could be a Loonatics DTV. Once again, unless someone can provide us with an source other than Wikipedia, TV.com, or some other "do it yourself" website that can be edited by anyone and their aunt Mlidred and link to said source, I have to assume that this news is just a fan generated rumor.

Just ran a Google search on this very subject; it turned up nothing but the aforementioned Wikipedia entry and some speculations by viewers on other message boards, not all of them even recent ones. So I'm personally leaning toward the "this is bogus" camp. Not to be the proverbial Doubting Thomas, but I'm going to need to see something official on this before I take it as fact. Anyone could type something like this on Wiki; without an official source or link, all we've got is speculation. A 3rd season of LU, while not impossible, seems unlikely at this stage, especially given that WB itself is steering away from TV animation right now. If WB really had a wide slew of TV animation projects ready to roll, I doubt that they would've sold Kids' WB to 4Kids in the first place. Like Space Demon said above, I could possibly, repeat, possibly see WB releasing a DTV or something along those lines, but a another TV season of LU doesn't sound like something they'd seriously consider right now. --You know, April Fools' Day is fast approaching. We could all just be getting punk'd!

Also remember that LU was Sander Schwartz' brain child (with the brain of a 4 year old and I'm sure that kid was glad to be rid of it ). Since Mr. Schwartz is no longer around, season 3 of the 6th sign of the apocolypse is definitely unlikely.

So I guess once the Kids' WB bites the dust the only non-cable/satellite source for cartoons on Saturday mornings will be on FOX. (*Sigh*) Will we ever see the likes of Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain or Batman: The Animated Series again? It seems like most of what was airing recently on the Kids' WB was crap, anyway... so maybe this can be thought of as a mercy killing! I noticed that WHV was quick to churn out a bunch of Tom and Jerry Tales DVD's this past year... perhaps they had seen the handwriting on the wall and wanted to try and squeeze a few more bucks out of the franchise before (hopefully) burying it for good?

Visited Wiki this morning and now the sentence about a 3rd season of Loonatics Unleashed isn't there anymore. Just a link to an online petition for a 3rd season. So I guess once the Kids' WB bites the dust the only non-cable/satellite source for cartoons on Saturday mornings will be on FOX. And the thing is, FOX doesn't even have it's own lineup anymore. 4KidsTV is a syndicated block that airs on many local FOX affiliates.
