Jerry Beck reportedly had nothing to do with this compilation. I'm glad, because this is a complete rip-off IMHO... I mean, come on, only 3 cartoons per DVD for $10.00?! This is all previously-released material, to boot. Even if the cartoons aren't formatted for wide-screen this time around, it's not worth it at that price.

Was going to ask if Loonatics Unleashed weren't on DVD already, but then I realized it said "Looney Tunes Unleashed". Oh the horror. (Yes, I did check once on Amazon whether Loonatics were unleashed on DVD. Just to get another reason to hate WB for not releasing Duck Dodgers (the TV series) to the same format. They manage to make possibly the worst spin-off series and possibly the best one, but only release the worst. I wonder what they're sniffing.)

I got one of those DVD looney tunes things for christmas one year.... I WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH IT! It was mostly all TWEETY BIRD and nothing good.... (Even what they show on Cartoon Network (Looney Tunes) is MUCH BETTER than what was on that set!) I dont like digital media anyway,i prefer VHS as the sound is much better as well as picture (Not nearly as flat)

The problem with VHS tapes is that they're bulky and can wear out over time. The tape contained within the VHS cassette can stretch, buckle and even break if a snag develops. Plus, you always have to rewind. Also, if you pause the tape too often, white streaks begin to appear on or around the on-screen image. Tape, in general, contains more 'noise' (both visual and aural) Personally I find the visual quality of DVD to be superior to VHS; but it also depends on how well the material was remastered for that format. A third-generation copy of a cartoon will look just as crappy on DVD as it does on VHS. What do you mean when you say "flat-looking"?

Don't worry about him; he just thinks DVD's look worse, but in reality, he probably needs glasses. With vinyl vs. CD, vinyl may be better because of the wider dynamic range, but with VHS vs. DVD, there's NO reason at all to prefer VHS. VHS was a crappy format that survived longer than it should have, and I'm glad we're on to something better. Too bad the back catalouge of VHS films which haven't been digitized is so big.

Actually, CD's have a wider dynamic range than vinyl. In order for LP's to have a really wide dynamic range, the loudest passages require more groove-space; which limits the playing time per side. In addition, really loud passages can cause mis-tracking (during which the stylus can actually "jump" the grooves) if the cartridge tracking-force is not properly-calibrated. When LP's are mastered from the edited master tapes, some limitations need to be employed while the wider grooves are being cut into the master laquer. This has been standard practice even during the days of shellac 78's. With CD's, no such limiting of the audio signal is necessary. When mastered properly, many CD's (the newer ones made after 1999) of older recordings (from the mid-1950's onward) can virtually replicate the sound of the original source material; provided that the source material hasn't incurred any degradation of sound in the intervening years. There is some truth, however, to the claim that well-made LP's have a certain "warmth" of sound to them that CD's have yet to replicate. In the case of SACD's they come closest, I think... The problem with those, however, is that they require a special pre-amplifier and surround-sound speaker configuration. They also can't be played on the CD-ROM drive of any desktop or laptop PC.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. :) Still my point holds that claiming VHS was better than DVD in any way just simply isn't true, and anyone claiming otherwise needs to check their eyesight. ;)

For those who are still wondering, these DVDs don't include a full screen option. Basically, it's like the recent T&J compilations; whatever AR they're in recently (meaning T&J CJ shorts in widescreen), they're in.
