I've never been a big fan of manga, it's just not a type of media I enjoy. Even though it's just another comic book, something about the flow and appearance puts me off.

I work near a Borders book store location so I keep up with manga titles. The expressive faces and the exaggerated reactions to minor ordinary events in most manga take getting used to but it keeps things lively. The stories mostly focus on young high school-based characters with some material (mature situations, violence, gross humor, casual topless female or backside male and female nudity) not intended for younger kids (despite seeing a lot of young kids reading manga books in the book store aisles at any given time) despite its cutesy character designs. My favorites (mostly comedy and romance stories): KareKano (His and Her Circumstances)...continuing the story where the 26 episode anime series left off (the School Festival play preparation and onward). Love Hina Negima Love Roma Conan the Boy Detective Dr. Slump Train Man Sokora Refugees (US-based artist and story but hilarious) and more. Some manga expand on anime shows with more character development and different situations not seen in animation.

I love Conan the Boy Detective (I like the anime series even more!!)!! It can get pretty bloody at times but it's nothing compared to some other stuff . One problem I have with manga though is like when I read right to left I get confused but then i get used to it. And then I read real normal American comics and I get all confused. Ditzy much? Anyways, "Viz" flips most of their manga (if not all) so its just like reading normal stuff (correct me if i'm wrong). Like I have some of the InuYasha volumes and they're like reading normal stuff. I have: -Naruto -InuYasha -Bleach -Read Or Die (just the first volume) -I also have some Yu-gi-oh from a looong time ago I sometimes buy Shonen Jump and I really like Gin Tama!!!

I don't read too much manga, for the fact I don't have a lot of money to buy any. However, the best manga I've read so far is: -Wolf's Rain(violent and not really graphic) -Berserk(very violent and graphic) I still think Wolf's Rain and Berserk are better as the anime. The Berserk manga is good up until a certain point, so I've heard, since I've only read the first 8 volumes. I've already seen all the Wolf's Rain episodes, and I'm actually only on volume 2 of the manga. But the manga is still good anyway; it just depends on whether you have the taste for that type or not.

Currently collecting: - Never Give Up - Dolls (a bit like Petshop of Horrors) - Evangelion: Angelic Days (alternate universe to the anime) - Hellsing (anime follows it to the 5th issue, then they ran out of story, so had to create their own ending and villain. It's kinda funny.) Complete collection: - Petshop of Horrors (anime is based on only a few of the stories) First issues (after which I decided it wasn't worth collecting them): - The World Exists For Me (by the same mangaka who did Revolutionary Girl Utena) - Kampai! (same girl who did Gravitation) - Labyrinth (based on the actual movie, the official manga-sequel. Dark Crystal has a manga coming out too. I think it's stupid, but whatever.) - Boys Be (first three issues) Single issue from an entire series which I liked best: - Yami no Matsuei #5
