McClatchy TV station "Scoopy the Bee" sign-off

I don't know how many have ever seen this - but the newspaper in Sacramento, Modesto and Fresno, CA are all "The Bee" - owned by the McClatchy corporation. The papers have a mascot, "Scoopy," who is of course a bee, and each owned a share of a TV station in their market in the early days. "Scoopy" was a Walt Disney creation - I'm not sure of the origin of the animated Scoopy in the video clip below - but given the time period (1950's-1970's) it's certainly not out of the question that this could be a creation of Disney animators. Anyway, each of the TV stations had a sign-on and sign-off - with changes to the call letters obviously for each station. This video is the sign-off for the Sacramento station. http://video.google.com/...search&plindex=0

In 1949, former Disney artist Peter Carte Paige created the character "Top Dog" as the (non-animated) cartoon mascot for radio station CKNW in New Westminster, British Columbia, which called itself the "Top Dog" of the local radio market. CKNW still exists at 980 (now in Vancouver) under its original call letters. The Top Dog isn't shown in ads any more, though. More's the pity.
