More Plastic Man 1979 Tidbits You Must Register Before You Can Post

Here are some more 1979 Plastic Man tidbits:

When the show entered syndication, my guess is that the closing title theme on the 1979 episodes had edits in two areas so that the music didn't end so abruptly after the 1978 Ruby-Spears logo finished out, so that any Worldvision, Turner or Warner Bros. Television logo would appear cleanly where the Filmways logo normally had been (this editing practice also occurred on Hanna-Barbera's The New Scooby-Doo Movies when it had initially entered syndication, so that their 1979 Swirling Star logo could play w/o it taking over the main closing title theme). On the original ABC broadcast, the audio would've been exactly the same length as the opening theme (minus, of course, the narration and sound effects), and it would have finished out over both the R-S and Filmways logos (a la Fangface and some 1978-80 ABC Weekend Specials produced by R-S).

The 1980 Plastic Man/Plastic Family/Baby Plas episodes (billed under the title The Plastic Man/Baby Plas Super Comedy Show) had the closing title theme short enough so that it left enough room in the audio for the main jingle for the Filmways logo.

Re: More Plastic Man 1979 Tidbits [In reply to] You Must Register Before You Can Post

I remember there was a live-action host named Taylor Marks playing "Plastic Man" when he introduced the cartoons for the weekday afternoon syndication series.

Notable that the show aired Ruby-Spears' "Heathcliff" cartoons when DIC's "Heathcliff" was still airing in the same weekday afternoons.

'Taylor Marks' was the pseudonym of stand-up comedian Mark Taylor. I saw him performing as himself on an episode of A&E's An Evening at the Improv. I remember being disappointed that Mr. Taylor didn't introduce any cartoons. Tongue

Another noteworthy feature of the syndicated Plastic Man show was that the Taylor Marks shows actually aired episodes of Rickety Rocket, which had been unceremoniously dropped by ABC shortly into its' initial run.

Probably no relation to actor Mark L. Taylor who played the voice of Firestorm on "Superfriends: The Super Powers Team" and Jimmy Olson on Ruby-Spears' "Superman" show. The same Mark L. Taylor also played the bespectacled and annoying hospital administrator Conrad Peckler in the tv series "House Calls" with Wayne Rogers and Lynn Redgrave.
