More Server Upgrades

Well, traffic continues to grow, and the load on our servers is getting higher. So, this morning, I added a new CPU to the BCDB server. Effectively, it is like adding a second server- there are now 2 CPU's (well, 4, as each is hyperthreaded to look like two CPUs) handling the BCDB and Comics-db.com traffic. The next step will be to put Comics and BCDB on seperate servers... but for now, this should keep things running smoothly.
For the Geeks out there, our server load was passing 2.0 at high traffic times- and I felt it was starting to effect the speed of the site. So far this morning, the server seems to be running .40-.50, so that should keep things cool for a while! The CPU's are 2.8 Gig Xeon 800 FSB Hyperthreaded CPU's with 1 Meg Level 1 cache each. The server has 2 Gigs of Memory, and dual SATA hard drives (one for the OS [FreeBSD] and one for Data).
Currently, we have three servers- the BCDB/Comics server outlined above, a second, similar server (with 1 CPU) that handles the images, ads, and other sites, and they MySQL server.
I should also note that over the last week I have done a LOT of code tweaking, which should result in a more coherant and constant look across the site- margins should all be similar, etc. The site is now also completely XHTML compliant, which should be a consitent look across clients (IE, Netscape, Firefox, Safari and others).
