Thanks for starting this thread... I've been itching to discuss some of the DVD's that have come out recently. I was one of the few dozen or so people over at the GAC Forums who had ordered a copy of the Noveltoons preview disc. As a reward for so doing, all of us also received a copy of the official Thunderbean release at no extra charge. I got my copy of the latter earlier this week and I finally got a chance to look at it today. The best-looking transfers I've seen thus far are of "The Stupidstitious Cat", "Much Ado About Mutton", and "Naughty but Mice" (complete and uncensored and splice-free). "Sudden Fried Chicken" looks good, overall, but has a number of small splices that break up the audio in places. The transfer of "The Wee Men" is slightly-murky at the beginning; but it becomes much more sharp and clear after the credits. I had really hoped to have a nice-looking copy of "No Mutton fer Nothin'"; but IIRC, Steve Stanchfield was having some difficulty with some of the source material and it had to be left out. "The Enchanted Square" and "Suddenly It's Spring" look quite splendid, indeed.

Sorry for the bump, but I got this dvd too quite a while back. It's very interesting watching these cartoons, and keeping in mind that this is also the same studio that made the Popeye cartoons at the time. Even though Herman the Mouse and Blackie Sheep were nothing special, I feel both deserve a bit more recognition. I too would have liked to have seen No Mutton Fer Nuttin as well as Sheep Shape on this dvd, as well as the Henpecked Rooster. And the prints look very good too, especially considering the budget for this dvd set was nowhere near as high as the Looney Tunes dvd releases for example. I hope Thunderbean has another Noveltoons dvd, I doubt it though...
