I've seen it on TV somewhere in the early 90's. It could be part of a series, but I think it was an individual short. It was about a young boy who went to an old house. I don't remember why exactly, I think he was sleeping over at a family member. Anyway the boy has a crazy imagination, when it got late at night and he hears the clock ticking in the hallway he thinks a monster is making the ticking sound. Then it cuts to the hallway where you can see a creature on stilts tapping on the wooding floor to make the ticking sounds. Then later he hears the trees outside rustle in the wind and he thinks there are skeletons making the sound. Then it cuts to the rooftop where a group of skeletons is walking on the roof. More of those incidents happen but I only remember these. Later, the boy is sleeping but wakes up when he hears noise outside. He walks to the window and then a bunch of ghosts and demons fly into his room. At that part I was so creeped out I shut off the TV so I don't remember what happened next.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I looked around but I can't find any trace of it on the internet. It's probably some obscure cartoon. The art style was a little gritty but still cartoony.

Sounds like "What's Under My Bed?" a children's book made into an animation by Weston Woods Studios. When I was little, I remember the book being read to me. I also remember seeing it as an animation on Eureeka's Castle.
Basically a grandfather is telling his grandchildren about when he was little, and was a bit frightened before going to bed--the clock bit is definately in there. It actually has a good ending--nothing scary.
I could not find the actual animation on youtube--but I did find an online video of someone reading the book out loud. Perhaps the pictures will jog your memory as it was basically the book being animated and read by someone.

That's it. I remember a narrator, probably the grandpa, and the whole grandpa telling his kids a story sounds a bit familiar now too. Shame it's not on youtube. Thanks a lot, I've been looking for it for a long time.
