The Other 99% Toons
|
|
|
These are the cartoon characters who earn a butt-load of money and most of the time, they never had it. Like the "Family Guy" episode called "Lottery Fever" where Peter Griffin wins $150 Million. "Fat and Furrious" where Garfield wins the lottery after getting change from the groceries...but he didn't realize he wasn't an adult. "Top Cat in Beverly Hills" is a great example since Top Cat himself always live on the streets. "Cartmanland" has Eric Cartman inherit $1 Million after his grandma died...but loses it all and more once he finds out that his amusement park had lines! "A Fine-Featherd Frenzy" stars Woody Woodpecker being FORCED to marry a millionaire named Gorgeous Gal. "Million Dollar Cat" features Tom as a Millionaire...but Jerry HAD to steal the show and his food! Tom would rather be the 99% than have Jerry win! Any other cartoons that show characters go from rags to riches...and wind-up back to rags again?

"Cartmanland" has Eric Cartman inherit $1 Million after his grandma died...but loses it all and more once he finds out that his amusement park had lines! That's not exactly what happened. Initially, Cartman uses his million dollar inheritence to buy a failing amusement park (Fun Land) from it's owner, Mr. Fun, but he wanted for himself to be the only person permitted to play in it. After Stan and Kyle try to sneak into Cartmanland (a renamed Fun Land), Cartman hires a security guard to keep them out, but the guard demands a salary, so Cartman reluctantly has to allow 1 person into the park each day in order to pay the guard. Soon afterwards, one of the rides breaks down, so Cartman has to hire a maintenance worker and allow 2 people into the park each day to pay the maintenance man's salary. Similar circumstances keep happening until eventually the park is a booming success, with crowds of people cmong in every day to have fun, which Cartman hates so much that he sells the park back to Mr. Fun. Immediately afterwards, Cartman is presented with a summons from Kenny's family because earlier Kenny was killed on 1 of the park's rides, and without the park, Cartman was unable to make back the money that he lost from the suit, and the park was no doing so well that Mr. Fun didn't want to sell the park back to him.
"Million Dollar Cat" features Tom as a Millionaire...but Jerry HAD to steal the show and his food! Tom would rather be the 99% than have Jerry win! You forgot to mention that 1 of the conditions of Tom's million dollar inheritence was that he couldn't harm another living thing, not even a mouse, or all payments would cease. So naturally, Jerry takes advantage of this by being as obnoxious as possible to Tom, so that Tom isn't enjoying being rich at all. Eventually, Tom decides that it's not worth it if he can't exact revenge on Jerry. As he says himself at the short's end, "Gee, I'm throwing away a million dollars...BUT I'M HAPPY!!!"

In the 1955 Looney Tune Heir Conditioned, Sylvester becomes a millionaire by inheriting a fortune, but his financial advisor Elmer won't let him spend it. The 1942 Merrie Melody The Wabbit Who Came to Supper has Elmer Fudd learning that Uncle Louie will leave him $3 million in his will as long as he doesn't harm any animals -- especially rabbits. After fulfilling the stipulations of the will, and suffering all manner of hijinks from Bugs, Elmer gets a special delivery letter from his uncle's lawyers showing that, after taxes and fees, he has no money left to spend and keep for himself; in fact, he owes them $1.98 on the $3 million inheritance ("pwease wemit").

"Fat and Furrious" where Garfield wins the lottery after getting change from the groceries...but he didn't realize he wasn't an adult. Actually, the title was "Fat and Furry", and was a Garfield and Friends episode. The title was a take on "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"; a parody of the show even aired as part of the episode, interviewing Jon.

Darn...I'm going ahead in life, I was thinking about "The Fast and the Furious" for some apparent reason.

In "Millionaire Droopy", Droopy and Spike both inherit half of their former master's fortune. The dog that outlives the other will get the deceased's share. Spike, ever so greedy, tries every attempt to do away with Droopy, only to fail. Spike ends up losing his share when he loses his mind, and is carted off to the dog pound.

"Jetson's Millions" - George Jetson wins the Venutian lottery, and even quits his job at Spacely's Sprockets. With George's luck, however, the Venutian economy collapses and his lottery winnings are devalued.

That sounds like an episode from the series' second run.

There was one cartoon where Woody Woodpecker is trying to get warm and he's burning his Photo Album and he sees that there's an uncle he's never known and is rich named Scrooge Woodpecker! I just wish I knew the name of the cartoon.
