AboveTheLine.TV, a social network for the music video industry and the online component of the multi-platform reality show Above The Line: The Search For America's Next Music Video Director, is teaming up with Antics animation software (www.antics3d.com) to launch the "Antics Animated Music Video Contest" judged by Phil Roman, the six-time Emmy Award-winning animator behind such hit shows and specials as Charlie Brown, Garfield and Friends, The Simpsons and King of the Hill. Starting today (Wednesday, September 26), directors will be able to upload animated music videos through the AboveTheLine.TV Web site for a chance to win a copy of the newest release of Antics animation software. A second part of the contest, kicking off kicking off later this fall, will allow directors to gain exclusive online access to Antics software to create music videos for a record label. The winning animated video will be chosen by the featured artist and published on the Antics Web site. "Working with AboveTheLine.TV on this animation contest is a great opportunity for Antics to introduce our easy to use 3D animation software package to the animation and music video production communities," said Brad Kolacinski, director of marketing operations for the Americas. "Antics levels the playing field for those who are new to 3D animation, and allows virtually anyone with basic computer skills to produce an animated music video that really exemplifies their creative capabilities. Antics also understands that music video productions have the same budget and time constraints as feature, TV and commercial productions, and that pre-visualization can expedite time spent on-set for live-action shoots, keeping productions under budget." AboveTheLine.TV's mission is to provide opportunities for music video professionals to get recognized and rewarded for their work. By developing a strategy to engage brands through music video contests, AboveTheLine.TV continues its efforts to sponsor ground-breaking music videos done by individuals who are pursuing a career in filmmaking. Music videos fans can also participate in exclusive interactive interviews such as October's feature on industry legend Roman, view the latest music video industry headlines from VideoStatic.com, explore recent music video production locations provided by California's top locations company, Plan-It Locations, and access hosted chats with music video industry insiders through MusicVideoWire.com. Preeti Shrivastava, a former music video director, heads up production of Above The Line: The Search For America's Next Music Video Director, along with partners Mark Hason, the former senior director for Clive Davis at Arista and video commissioner at Tommy Boy Music, and Danny Wright, the former director of artist development for Arista Records and head of video promotion for Universal Records.
