FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Noted Cartoon Writer Jeffrey Scott to Appear in Online Chat Salt Lake City, UT/Atlanta, GA, April 29, 2003- Emmy-winning cartoon writer and creator Jeffrey Scott will appear in an open-to-all online chat co-sponsored by The Big Cartoon DataBase and AnimationHQ on May 10, 2003 at 4 PM Eastern, it was announced today. Jeff will answer questions on a variety of animation-related topics, from hints to getting started in the business, to stories about the many productions he has worked on over the last 35 years. This discussion will be presented live, and users who wish to can present questions directly to Jeff during the chat. Jeff's tremendous history in the business, and his wonderful storytelling abilities are sure to make this a wonderful session for all those involved, and all those who love Saturday Morning cartoon shows. Jeffrey began his career writing on Dynomutt: Dog Wonder in 1976, under the name Jeff Maurer. Since then, he has written over 600 cartoon scripts for shows such as Hanna-Barbera's Super Friends to Disney's Duck Tales and TaleSpin series. Jeffrey was also on the creative team behind the Emmy-Award winning Jim Henson's Muppet Babies series, developing the show for television as well as writing all of the episodes for the first three seasons. More recently he co-developed and story-edited the critically acclaimed PBS series, Dragon Tales. Mr. Scott is also the author of “How to Write for Animation” from Overlook Press. Expanding on his "Write Stuff" columns as seen in Animation Magazine, his book contains 224 pages of practical information on animation writing, including the complete premise, outline and script from an episode he wrote of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This chat is the first in a series of ongoing chats to be co-sponsored by AnimationHQ and Big Cartoon DataBase. These chats will bring the creative forces behind cartoons- writers, directors, artists and voice talents- into a public forum where they can meet and discuss their works with fans. These chats are open to anyone who logs on to the web chat via IRC (Internet Relay Chat). Users can actively participate or can just watch and enjoy as the conversation unfolds.
