RARE VINTAGE MICKEY INFO NEEDED: You Must Register Before You Can Post

I have a 16mm film with several show's including Mickey Mouse and need some info. The beginning of the Mickey movie it states: "Mickey Mouse and the Gorilla" (please see pic used as icon) but I cannot find this title ANYWHERE!!!. Throughout my extensive research that title does NOT exist. I know it was before 1935 (By 1935, all Disney product was being released in color prints, and Mickey himself had starred as conductor in a bright red uniform) this clip is total B&W. Other titles on this reel I cannot find as well:
On this reel are also a rare Popeye in 'Tin Lizzie' (cannot find title); Little Rascals "Razz-Berry" (cannot find title); and another clip only shown on film as "The Trap" with NO credits whatsoever. This reel has to be a RARE find and I would like to get as much info on this as I can. PLEASE ANYONE HELP.
I also have other films such as: "Passion Play" Christ's crucifixion (4 reels); "Air Maniacs" 1933; 3 Castle Films TERRY-TOONS ( Farmyard Whoopee; Owl and Pussycat; and Little Boy Blue). Anyone got ANY info on ANY of these?

Thanx-Tongue

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, many of your conclusions are based on bad data... more on that later.

First, you need to understand a bit more on how home use films were released. More often than not, they are edited versions of theatrical cartoons- usually more than 1/2 of the cartoon is removed. Sometimes, two or more theatricals are edied together to make "frankenstein" prints. In MOST cases, the name is changed, too. So I am not surprised you are not finding films with those names.

Second, just because theatrical films started coming out in color does NOT have any bearing on whether the home version is color or black and white. It is VERY commopn for color films to be released for home market in B&W- it was much less expensive.

As to their rarity, maybe, maybe not. But I would be very surprised if they were valuable- VERY few home releases have any real value.

So, really, to find out what these are, you will really have to wade through a lot of films! What you have has no real bearing on what they were originally.

A similar question came up a while ago - see the threads Disney's The Ham Actor on 8mm and orphan's benefit anyone?

I believe the image in your icon is from The Castaway (1931) directed by Wilfred Jackson.

("The Castaway (1931) (7:22) In this short, Mickey finds himself stranded on a deserted island and his series of misadventures are the focus. A piano washes ashore and Mickey plays for both a bothersome little tiger cub and a destructive gorilla. He later has some run-ins with a lion and a crocodile." - ultimatedisney.com)

This film was basically a "cheater" in that Jackson was given the task of creating a plot to incorporate animation sequences that had been edited out of previous films, and stored for recycling. (Disney was very thrifty in those days - even on storyboards good gags that were cut because they slowed down the flow of the action would be earmarked for other pictures)
