Remember Dee Dee's Friends, Lee Lee and Mee Mee? You Must Register Before You Can Post

Well, I'm new here at the BCDB forum, and this is my first post there, but...for anyone who didn't already think that Cartoon Network and the creator-driven era of animation for television croaked these days...do you remember Dee Dee's friends, Lee Lee, and Mee Mee, from the Cartoon Network Show, Dexter's Laboratory? Do you miss them? What did they look like and what are their ethnic backgrounds? And do you recall any episode(s) and/or part(s) that involves Dee Dee and/or her friends, Mee Mee and Lee Lee in Dexter's Lab?

I don't see the connection between your assertion that...

and your question about Mee Mee and Lee Lee. One has little to do with the other as put forth in your post.

You have a picture of them as an attachment but you don't know what they look like? Anyway...

Mee-Mee was African-American and was voiced by Kimberly Brooks, while Lee-Lee was Asian American and was voiced by Kath Soucie. In their debut short, they both wore pink, like Dee-Dee, but in their later appearances, Lee-Lee wore a blue green dress while Mee-Mee wore a purple one. Otherwise, there wasn't much distinction between them, except that Lee-Lee was kind of air headed and Mee-Mee would occasional use sassy lingo.

In the swimming pool short (can't recall the title right now), Lee-Lee and Mee-Mee appear in a single scene where they're doing a syncronized swimming routine with Dee-Dee, although they both mysteriously vanish afterward.

In 1 short, we see Mee-Mee's mom, who looks exactly like Dee-Dee's mom, only with brown skin and hair.

In the end of "A Tribe Called Girl", Lee-Lee let's it slip that she thinks Dexter is "kind of cute", and of course, she's immediately teased for it.

And of course, SpaceDemon, Like Mandark's sister, Olga Lalavava, Lee Lee and Mee Mee are notorious for not appearing outside the earlier 1990's seasons of the official Dexter's Laboratory canon. And as for their filmography, Lee Lee and Mee Mee, Dee Dee's friends, appeared in the following Dexter's Laboratory episodes so far:

1. Double Trouble
2. Tribe Called Girl
3. Beard to be Feared
4. That Crazy Robot!
5. Techno Turtle
6. G.I.R.L. Squad
7. Dee Dee's Tail
8. Better off Wet
9. Trick or Treehouse
And, last but not least:
10. Dee Dee's Rival

Most people don't know (or have completely forgotten) this, but in the first appearance of Dee-Dee's friends, "Double Trouble", in addition to Mee-Mee and Lee-Lee, Dee-Dee also had a third friend, a red-haired girl named Kee-Kee. But Kee-Kee's career was strictly stop and go: she never appeared beyond this one short. By the friends' second appearance ("A Tribe Called Girl") and for all of their subsequent appearances, it was just Mee-Mee and Lee-Lee.

Long time, no see, everybody at BCDB! Here's a download link to my fanart of Dee Dee's Asian friend, Lee Lee, dressed as a Samurai warrior in full armor:

http://www.deviantart.com/...imbox129-d34p34r.jpg

In that very fanart that I did for Dee Dee's Asian Friend, Lee Lee, from Dexter's Laboratory, I portrayed her not as an idiotic girl who who loves cutesy stuff and toys and even ballet, and, among other things, would not actually fight crime like Dee Dee and Mee Mee (as in the Dexter's Laboratory Charlie's Angels parody and spoof, G.I.R.L. Squad), but rather as a mighty and heroic warrior princess girl, kinda like a young female version of Samurai Jack (Genndy Tartakovsky's other Cartoon Network show, besides Dexter's Laboratory and the recently-canceled Sym-Bionic Titan).

This topic seems as though it would be better suited for a personal blog rather than a message board, since there's no real discussion going on here.

So basically, you want a Lee-Lee who's absolutely nothing like Lee-Lee? So why not just rename her and call her on OC, 'cause that's basically what she is.

This is something I've never understood about fanfic: yes, it's fun to imagine our favorite characters doing things and partaking in stories that the show's actual producers would never dream of doing, but when an aspiring writer/artist's idea of "improving" a character or show involves transforming them and/or the show they inhabit into a completely different animal, then I have to question how big a fan they are of said show. If you're going to completely change the characters and the universe of the show, then you might as well just call it an original idea with original characters, because that's essentially what it is.

Re: Remember Dee Dee's Friends, Lee Lee and Mee Mee? [In reply to] You Must Register Before You Can Post

Listen Starburst, I'll credit Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Avatar (The James Cameron Movie and/or the Nickelodeon show) and even the Lord of the Rings as some of the main inspirations and influences for an original idea with original characters of my own, with the Asian girl (modeled after Dee Dee's Asian friend, Lee Lee, especially in look and appearance) being the main central lead character.

And from there, toss in a few bits from Arthurian Legend, samurai films, a generous helping of works such as the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson (who is finishing it when the former died) and George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire (which includes the now-famous-on-TV Game of Thrones), and much, much more.

And I may freely admit my borrowing, but it will be all in how I will put it altogether, like a cinematic or so four-star chef with a gift for spice and magic. And granted, guys, he borrowings and inluences for my original idea with original characters of my own is gonna be like those for the original Star Wars movie from 1977. Like George Lucas, I'll be mixing together all these things from before to make something totally original, new, and fresh.

And as for my original idea with original characters of my own, it'll either be a series of twelve or so epic movies or maybe a series of twelve or so epic novels or whatever set in a world where dinosaurs still roamed, and fire breathing dragons shared the skies with birds and pterosaurs.

It shall be called something like A Song of Dragons and Dinosaurs or whatever.

So there!

:^: 'Kay, now you're plugging your movie script.

Pray tell, what does any of this have to do with the topic of Dee-Dee's friends? You seemed to have drifted on to a different subject entirely here. Perhaps you should take Space Demon's advice and start a blog for all of this, as I don't see a ton of serious discussion coming from this thread. I'm seriously scratching my head as to what this thread is even about.

BTW, 'look' and 'appearance' mean the same thing, so that's kind of redundant. Just sayin'.
