For some reason tonight, I'm having a Sci-fi vibe here, and two films that have a sci-fi twist are "2001" and "A Clockwork Orange". I myself haven't seen "A Clockwork Orange", but I might.

A Clockwork Orange is definitely not a sci-fi. It's about a juvenile delinquent who gets rehabilitated. Quite enthralling.

A Clockwork Orange is definitely not a sci-fi. However, it does resemble a sci-fi in that it presents a dystopian near-future, like The Omega Man. Mr. C., make a note to see this. This is the movie that launched Malcolm McDowell in the U.S.

I saw it a couple of years ago at the local cinema where I do volunteer work. It was part of a tribute to Stanley Kubrick (I believe the program was scheduled just shortly after his death). 2001: A Space Odyssey was screened earlier that week. I have to say that, after having seen A Clockwork Orange I have never been able to listen to the song, "Singin' in the Rain", in quite the same way again(!)

You're going to like this. It has a not-to-be-believed soundtrack highlighted by "Switched-On-Bach" musician Wendy (then Walter) Carlos.

My favorite Kubrick film: "Full Metal Jacket". R. Lee Ermey as a very unforgettable Marine Drill Sergeant. Vincent D'Onofrio as Private Gomer Pyle.

Clockwork Orange is disturbingly brilliant. I really don't need to see it again certain images are extremely ugly, but it's hard not to peek at it when it does come on. Full Metal is pretty raw too.

R. Lee Ermey also played a D.I. in "Boys In Company C", also a really great film.

R. Lee Ermey also played a D.I. in "Boys In Company C", also a really great film. Ermey is a real-life Marine drill instructor (served 4 tours of duty during the Vietnam War) and was a technical advisor for motion pictures depicting Marine training. Ermey was serving as technical advisor on "Full Metal Jacket" when Stanley Kubrick thought he would be more genuine playing a drill instructor for his film rather than hiring an actor. Ermey acted in a lot of films since then.

I think my most favorite line in that film is at the beginning when the recruits first arrive at the Reception Station. At one point Ermey asks one recruit how tall he is and then replies, " I didn't know they could stack ***t that high!" (If the automatic censor in the Forum doesn't kick in, I'll go back and bleep out that s-word word myself)

"Did your parents have any children that lived?" "You're so ugly, you can become a modern art masterpiece." "You are pukes...you're the lowest form of life on Earth...you're not even human (bleeping) beings...you're nothing but unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian (bleep)." Three "Full Metal Jacket" drill instructor insults I can quote here. The "Happy Birthday, Jesus" song is a priceless scene as is the "Jelly Donut" scene.
