They're at it again....

I found the following NY Times article regarding the "Censored 11" posted over at GAC Forums. I pulled up the article from that post and have provided a direct link to it here. Once the article becomes archived, however, you may need a password from the Times website to access it in the future. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but judging from the article and the buzz srrounding it, it seems like these cartoons will never see the light of day on future volumes of LTGC. What bothers me is the fact that Time-Warner hasn't been as zealous about pulling all of the other WB cartoons that are currently posted on YouTube. One member of GAC pointed out, correctly, that at least two of the "Censored 11" titles that were pulled from YouTube are currently in the Public Domain.

I agree that it does seem like the C-11 will never be released. However, Barrier said in the interview that the fact the C-11 is being shown on YouTube, "shows that there is a demand" out their. Hopefully WB will learn about this and decide to release them in it's proper historical context.

Now that's just unfair. I'd really love to have "Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarves" on DVD-and still want to hope that it's possible.

The top three that I would really love to see on the LTGC restored/uncut and with commentary is: Russian Rhapsody The Ducktators Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarves I'll keep my fingers crossed. But at least you can see them on YouTube. Lets hope they don't get pulled (although they shouldn't since they are PD. As far as I know).

According to the article Coal Black was pulled once, but was apparently re-posted by someone else.

"Coal Black" seemed to have a chance last volume, with the Bob Clampett and Fairy Tale discs. Now we'll probably have to wait for a disc labeled "Offensive Blackface Parodies" or "Banned Classics" in a future LTGC to see this timeless masterpiece!

People think I am crazy just because I didn't like "Ratatouille." Am I REALLY crazy, or do I see things differently?

Heh-I'm looking for the category "Politically incorrect" on a future disc!

Heh-I'm looking for the category "Politically incorrect" on a future disc! I'd like to find an entire list of all the cartoons that have been edited and/or censored due to stereotyping. (This includes Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, Disney, and Woody Woodpecker to name a few.)
