Toons in Arabia
Okay, you may have heard the news about Bin Laden and Gadaffi, so with that said... Many cartoons have been set in (supposedly) The Middle East. Anything that has the title "Aladdin" of course, "Sahara Hare" and "Ali Baba Bunny" with Bugs Bunny, and "Road to Europe" from "Family Guy" (Brian and Stewit wind-up in Arabia first). Any other cartoons with a Middle Eastern vibe?

Plenty, to be sure. Hanna-Barbera had "Shazzan!," "The Arabian Knights," "Scooby-Doo Meets Jeannie," and also had Magilla Gorilla, Jonny Quest, Abbott And Costello, and Space Ghost in Middle Eastern settings. In addition, there was "Arabian Nights," and in the Flintstones episdoe "Royal Rubble," Barney was mistaken for an Arabian prince! And who could forget "The Desperate Desert Race," an episode of Speed Racer that took place in Sandoland, which was definitely Middle Eastern?

Though more than likely set in north Africa, the palace and harem in the Warner Bros. Private Snafu short "Booby Traps" had more of a Middle East vibe to it. Though not in the Middle East, the jewel thief in "Have You Got Any Castles" came from a travel pamphlet for Baghdad. In the "Animaniacs" episode "Animaniacs Stew", where they mixed up the characters, Yakko, Wakko, and Slappy Squirrel (taking Dot's place as their sister) travel to Baghdad, Iraq in "Baghdad Cafe", and meet the dictator, Sodarn Insane, a caricature of Saddam Hussein. They treat him as their waiter, and he gets it in the end thanks to Slappy and some dynamite.

We can include Northern Africa, since it has relationships with Arabia (They share the language called Arabic).

We can include Northern Africa, since it has relationships with Arabia (They share the language called Arabic). In that case, we can count "Porky in Egypt". The cartoon opens up with a couple of mua'zzins (Islamic prayer chanters), and at one point one of the mua'zzins begins a prayer, then quickly switches to a game of Craps in a back alley ("*Chanting*...C'mon, you sevens! Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!").
