Fumihiko Sori's 2007 anime film "Vexille" received the Jury Award for Best Animation Feature at the 17th annual Philadelphia Film Festival. In the second half of the 21st century, in a world dangerously influenced by android technology, a U.S. special agent discovers an apocalyptic Tokyo when she is sent to infiltrate Japan’s decade-long self-imposed exile in this ground-breaking feature. The film had its Philadelphia premiere at the festival. Members of the English-language voice cast included Colleen Clinkenbeard, Christine Auten, Travis Willingham, John Swasey, Jason Douglas, J. Michael Tatum and Luci Christian. The Jury Award for Best Animation Short went to Breakout (2007), a French-Belgian production directed by Armand Demuynck. American director Dan Pinto's five-minute short Hedgehug, released this year, won the Festival of Independents' Award for Best Animation. One damned lovable hedgehog sets out to find his Valentine. But will he ever know love?
