WHAT! NO GRAVY! Dog steals cat (Chow Hound)

 Come on People, does anyone know what cartoon this was? A dog keeps stealing a cat from homes, and then giving it to other homes. At the end, the dog buys a butcher shop. Any idea what the title is?

A large bully of a dog uses a frightened cat and mouse in various scams in order to get meals. Although they succeed, he's usually upset that they didn't bring him any gravy to go with the meat.

Very funny short,one of the last ones Chuck Jones did that was truly hilarious.
CHOW HOUND
Technicolor;Looney Tunes reissued circa 1959 as a Merrie Melodie blue ribbom (going by the fact that Vitaphone's still in copyright as it would remain till 1959, and it had the 1959-64 tan rings, both at open and end and the plain TECHNICOLOR as opposed to Color by..underneath the notation IDing at Warner Bros.,MM and BR).Prob.had blue/red rings.June 16,1951.

Animated by Ken Harris, Ben Washam, Lloyd Vaughn and PhilipMonroe
Backgrounds by Peter Alvardo
Layouts by Robert Gribbroek (replaced the next year by l;egendary Maurice Noble)

This is notable for its dark humor (more a Michael Maltese thing) and its somewhat larger cast of characters and its caricatures of various Warners animators, Chuck Jones himself included (BOTH as zookeeper and as the mouse doing the censored pygmy scedne.) BTW It's said that Ted Pierce did the zookeeper (though now no longer reguarly writing for CJ which he WOULD during the Maltese tenure at Lantz for one of Chuck's last goos uses of Daffy, ROCKET SQUAD,and Pierce also wrote for Jones for one of Daws Butler's early WB appearances, BARBARY COAST BUNNY; Mike Maltese wrote CHOW HOUND and almost all 50s Jones shorts, Peirce still worked for everyone as a voice artist;also doing this earlier for Flesicher!!) .BTW That zoo curator sounded vaguely like character actor and Disney great Sterling Holloway, which always sounded odd next to J.T.Smith as the dog and Mel Blanc as most others.The mouse has a Mel Blanc-provided unique falstetoo,and some other interesting Blanc voices are the impression of CJ animator Ken Harris as the old man who owns "Timothy"..great rendition..and the cat's ONLY line, at the end is Mel doing his famed BUGS BUNNY "This time.."

I love this screen shot. I especially love the Janitor-In-A-Drum size can, and how it simply says, "Gravy." Not even "Acme Gravy." Just "Gravy." Ughh.

Yeah, that last scene disturbs me, too, it's almost Clockwork Orange-esque.
Notice how the dog is even somewhat realistic in his obesity, folds 'n' all? That really IS a good screenshot, by the way.

Anyone would probably would be as fat as the dog if you drank that big can of gravy! But once again this is the magic of cartoons, no one ever gets hurt.

According to both BCDB & IMDb (Internet Movie Database) "Chow Hound" was released on n Sunday, June 16th, 1951. Tex Avery's "Symphony In Slang" was released 2 dates? IMDB has release date as Sunday, June 16th, 1951. BCDB has "Symphony In Slang" release date as Thursday, June 6th, 1951. Fred Quimby was MGM's Animation Producer, at the time. "Symphony In Slang" is/was an MGM cartoon & "Chow Hound" is/was a Warner Brothers cartoon. In Sincerest Honesty, 63x927is58401.
DOES ANYONE WANT TO CHECK ON THE TWO DIFFERENT RELEASE DATES of Tex Avery's "SYMPHONY IN SLANG" CARTOON?

Yeah, that last scene disturbs me, too, it's almost Clockwork Orange-esque. And note that this cartoon came out 22 years BEFORE Clockwork Orange.
Do you think Stanley Krubick was inspired by Chuck Jones and the artisis of Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies with hos work on Clockwork Orange?

The cartoon is called 'Pigs is Pigs' (Not to be confused with the Disney cartoon named after this title.) The pig who eats all his siblings spaghetti is told by his mom not to eat like that and he gets a nightmare by getting force-fed food until he's fat. And once he explodes, he wakes up and eats again! That pig will never change. (And no, Porky Pig wasn't in it.)
