Hi BiilC: Welcome to the fourm! I know there is at least one other member so far that collects 16mm, and I am sure you will meet him in the next couple days. The forum is still rather new- only been online less than a week. So, hopefully, as it grows, we will see more people that collect them. Please see your PM for more info.

Hi Bill, I also collect cartoons (and other stuff) on 16mm. My WB collection includes Mexicali Schmoes(!!!), One Froggy Evening, and Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips. Even tho I've seen it maybe 50 times, Mexicali Schmoes still reduces me to a giggling idiot! It's really king of embarrassing.

I do not have fond memories of Droopy. Possibly because of (what I consider) the very poor Hanna-Barbera Droopy's on Tom & Jerry Kids... But when I first saw "Deputy Droopy" my attitute changed completely. Those Avery and Lah theatricals are GREAT, and "Deputy Droopy" is the BEST!

Hello, I just joined this web site and forum about 10 minutes ago. Hope that this response ends up in the right place. I am responding to the posting asking who collected cartoons on 16mm. I do. I am a 62 year-old guy living in Delaware who purchased a complete film library when I was in my early 20's back in 1960. Among the almost 400 films I got were quite a few cartoons, virtually all of them in B&W. I won't go into the titles here but if anyone is interested I can post this info at a later date. In the meantime I am curious about something I saw on the main web site. I checked out a few of the titles I have and saw the note that no one had reviewed or voted for them so they were not yet rated. Would it be of any help for me to work my way through the titles on line that are in my collection and add some notes to the database? Thanks for having me as a member. Richard

Dr. Rich: Welcome, also! Synopses, if they aren't already in BCDB (or if you have more info), would especially be welcome. I've been adding a lot of these which have been provided by folks selling their 16mm films at that well-known auction site. But even if you don't plan to sell them (and I don't blame you if you don't), descriptions would be a great help. Sometimes someone's 16mm cartoon is the only copy extant!

Hi All, I'm a collector of cartoons (& more) on 16mm film. Live near LA, Post production for TV is my trade, mostly editing. Both professionally & as a hobby I enjoy working with cartoon sound effects. For a few months here I've been adding episode synopses to the Pink Panther & Inspector BCDB Of the over 200 film prints here about 30 are cartoons. Most of the 16mm cartoons are from: DePatie-Freling: - Warner Classics: - MGM - Hanna-Barbera: - Filmation ...but I 'Need to Add': Tex Avery, Jay Ward, more Chuck Jones, more DePatie-Freling: & early Hanna-Barbera to my 16mm collection. ...Always looking for info on these 16mm prints!!! I've also put together a good collection of 1950's, 60's, & 70's animation commercials, for example Bullwinkle selling Cheerios, Woody Woodpecker selling Kellogg’s Sugar Pops, Disney's Alice in wonderland selling Jell-O, Bugs Bunny selling Kool-aid, & My favorite the Flintstones selling Winston cigarettes P.S. I've been using the name 'DuckDodgers' for many years, long before the new Duck Dodgers.(which turned out surprisingly good)

I have about a dozen 8 and 16 mm cartoon films. Some of the boxes for the Mickey Mouse films are labeled Walt Disney Productions and some are labeled Walt Disney Enterprises. I was told that the latter are worth a bit more, although I don't think that there's much of a market for this stuff to begin with. I also own two 8 mm projectors. The nicest of the two is a Keystone, Model 109 in like-new condition.

I'm fairly new to this forum, but I have a few 16mm cartoons: an episode of Astro Boy "Strange Birthday Present", Tex Avery's "Legend of Rock-a-bye Point", an Oswald the Rabbit cartoon which was supposedly animated by Tex Avery, though it doesn't have him credited, and the Bell Science film "Hemo The Magnificent". Of all of these, only Hemo has had a video release as far as I know.
