I hear ya Lexx. My thoughts are not really so much of when, but rather what are they going to release? Can we get the real deal now? No edits please? Throw in His Mouse Friday and the other banned ones, just put a Whoopi G. disclaimer in front of them.

The only reason I'm not interested is because the cartoons are edited. I like my cartoons uncut!

I have read somewhere that you can get disc 1 replaced on Tom & Jerry vol.2, to replace three edited cartoons. But unfortunately, no replacement disc is planned for vol. 1. Which is a shame because I have the first volume.

If it is bogus then someone did a good job on making it look legit. I found this quote at The Home Theater Forum: "Warner Home Video is advising consumers who purchased Tom and Jerry Spotlight Collection: Volume 2 DVD that certain episodes on Disc 1 and Disc 2 have an alternate audio track. For any consumer who wants to have both of these discs replaced with the original audio track, please contact Warner Home Video at 1-800-553-6937 so that a self-addressed stamped envelope can be sent to you for return of your current disc. Please note that the replacement discs will be sent to you in approximately 2-4 weeks." Here is the link to that forum. And here is another link to the DVDTimes. I looked on the Time Warner site but only found info on how to purchase their movies/ shows.

BTW, Bmode, did you actually enjoy the Whoopi G. Opening that kept me away from my beloved T&J and LT for 5 min (I always love to tenfold, so 50 min.)???!!! Absolutely not. But I'd sit through an hour of anyone talking about how these cartoons were ORIGINALLY not intended for children, stereotypes and all, and were made at a unique time in history, to get the cartoons uncut. Oh, OK then. I only sat through a Whoopi G. disclaimer once to be honest, just to realize what it was and meant.

Yeah, I did noticed that. Only one person on another forum said he actually received the disc. But if a replacement disc/s comes for volume one, I'll take a chance. After all, it's free.

I'll be interested to see if any smoking scenes get cut in T&J Volume 3. Thank God that Texas Tom and Professor Tom were untouched in the last two volumes! I never tried to see if I could get replacement discs for either Vols. 1 or 2, and I'm a little dubious about WHV actually honoring their promises.

All I want is a completely uncut and uncensored spotlight collection. What's so wrong with that? Why not create a censored one for people who get offended by some stuff and an uncensored one for people like me who don't give a damn. We know how bad it is, but most of the time it seems a lot better uncut.

Every story, movie, news article, piece of art, or song, is better uncut. Editing takes the creativety out of the creator. I whole heartedly agree with you Cameron, but you have to consider a few things of why it's so difficult for Warner Bros: 1-Costs - Will Warner Bros. make any money on these DVD releases? This is the primary factor these days, and I'm sure they are wondering who will buy these dvd's, because kids are not looking for Tom & Jerry. 9 out of 10 kids will take a Xbox instead, believe me. 2-Political Correctness - You have material that was created in a very different time in World History, so they feel that it certain scenes are inappropriate, and will be misconstrued by new viewers. 3-Lack of Parental supervision - These cartoons were not made for children. I know your young, but back in the day, movie theatres would show cartoons before feature pictures. I still remember seeing Chilly Willy at the Van Nuys Drive-In theatre on Sepulveda when I was 8 yrs old. For example, the fact that some cartoon characters smoke in cartoons, has nothing to do with kids. Kids did not make cigarettes, adults did. Can anyone else add to this list?

Wow, quite a combative bump, Kris! I even checked TV Shows on DVD and those guys don't know anything about a third spotlight collection for T&J.

combative? huh? how is it combative? (and actually I didn't really mean news on a vol. 3 as much as I meant the replacement discs for vols. 1 & 2)

One other possible reason that Warner Home Video is reluctant to reissue uncut versions of Spotlight Collections: this action is tantamount to admitting that the edited versions were a mistake, a lapse in judgment. By itself, this may not seem so bad, until one considers that this paves the way for a class action lawsuit by the many who purchased the edited versions. The argument before the court would be that hundreds of consumers across the country were knowingly and deliberately sold inferior versions of the product. In this day and age of "litigation lottery," opportunists are sure to pounce on WHV's misstep. This same ugly spectre haunts many legitimate companies: while lawsuits are pending on one older model product, the manufacturer dares not introduce an updated model, lest it be interpreted as a tacit admission of guilt. Speaking for myself, I have no problem with the edited versions. Although the omissions create noticeable seams in the continuity, I don't see where they fatally detract from the cartoons as a whole. I'm mindful that figuratively I'm getting 90% of a wonderful pie. WHV has no binding obligation to release any of their animated properties; they would be perfectly within their rights to expunge all traces of Tom and Jerry, retaining the rights in name only to thwart any third party from resurrecting them. Thankfully, this is not the case. Tom and Jerry have been released. I can purchase T&J legitimately. I did so. This bunny is happy.
