lamb and wolf cartoon
|

|
I am trying to find the name of a cartoon movie. I believe it was made in the 1980s. It was about a small lamb, whose mother is killed by a wolf. He (the lamb) goes looking for the wolf, intending to take revenge upon him. Instead, the wolf takes the lamb in, and teaches him to be fierce. In the end, the lamb (he has grown up by this time into a ram) has an argument with the wolf. He runs at him, saying something like "You're the one (or wolf) who killed my mother!". The lamb kills the wolf. I keep thinking that the lamb's name was Gerale, or something in that area. (I probably have it confused with the name of Superman's father (Jorel)). Any information that you can give me about this cartoon would be greatly appreciated!

That would be Ringing Bell, aka Chirin no Sozu (Chirin's Bell), 1978. From Japan's Sanrio studio.

Also known as The Bell of Chirin - Chirin being the lamb's name, of course. Here is the link to the entry on BCDB: Chirin no Sozu And the fansite Chirin's Mountain has lots of stills.
"I will beat you one day!" Chirin starts to learn the way of the Wolf.
