"Here Comes the Grump" DVD

My copy of the "Here Comes the Grump" DVD set came. Anyone else got it? They look restored from the original negatives. Unfortunatly, the episodes themselves looks squished. It looks like these masters were made for HDTV airings (top and bottom portions cut off) then stretched it to make it fit on regular TV. However, the opening, the "next week" previews, and the closing credit doesn't look squished. It's a fun watch, at least. It features direction from veterns Art Davis and Sid Marcus, along with George Gordon, Gerry Chiniquy, Hawley Pratt, and Grant Simmons. Writers including Don Christensen and John Dunn. The 3rd disk contains an interview with David H. DePatie. He talks about the history of DFE, the creation of "The Pink Panther" (the success of the "Pink Phink" is what may led Warners to revive "Looney Tunes"), the story on "The Grump", and Marvel Comics purchasing DePatie-Freleng Enterprises. He considers Friz Freleng the best director ("Chuck Jones couldn't lift a pencil" - DePatie)

Charles, can you tell me what the DVD says on the box. You may have to change some of your settings on your DVD & TV to get the proper aspect ratio playback in which the transfer was made. Top and bottom portions cut off means that it's probably being set up for a 16:9 aspect ration(1:78). Is your TV 16:9?

According to the box, the set is presented in 1:33:1 ratio.

That explains the black matte. Or what people call black boxes on the top and on the bottom. I wish they disclose the whole process of what the originals were, to what you have now?
