about toothbrush and so on... what's it called?

Ok there was this short cartoon about a toothbrush, toothpase, dental floss and all kinds of other dental hygenic characters. The theme song went something like "brush your teeth, brush your teeth, round and round circle and square....." Kinda sounded like a spoof of all around the malberry bush. It's and old 5 min cartoon I beleive from the 80's or earlier, I just don't remember and may have never known what it was called. So if anyone knows, I'd appreciate it. Zero

How about The Toothbrush Family, which aired as a recurring segment on Captain Kangaroo? A family of toothbrushes and their friends -- a tube of toothpaste, a sponge, a nailbrush, a husband and wife comb and brush, and an electric toothbrush -- come to life while the humans of the house were asleep. They sing the same song in every short, to the tune of "Three Blind Mice." (I'd be remiss not to thank SpaceDemon for the description!) Like you said, 5 minutes apiece. It had 64 episodes and was produced by an Australian studio, Southern Star Entertainment Pty. Ltd. Characters included Molly and Max and their friends Flash Fluoride, Susie Sponge and Countess de Comb. (I am not making this up.)

The Toothbrush Family that appeared on Captain Kangaroo consisted of "Father Tom, Mother Tess and little Tina and Toby, . . . . Oh, and Gramps!" Then there was "Flash Flouride, and Hot Rod Harry, the Electric Toothbrush. -- And Bert Brush, Cecily Comb, Neb Nailbrush and Suzy Sponge." Virtually the last cartoon cast I have managed to memorize. In one episode, they found a dirty used toothbrush who behaved like a dog, and he hung around a little bit. What episodes I did watch, they were dominated by Flash Flouride, a superhero tube of toothpaste, and the elctric toothbrush Hot Rod Harry. Rarely did the characters speak about what they did, as this would require Harry or Tess messing up their hair by brushing someone's teeth, or Flash Flouride being squeezed. Suzy was left at the bottom of the tub once and had to be rescued. While the illustration you have provided is similar, it isn't entirely the way the Toothbrush family looked, altho more than likely this show was syndicated out and changed from promos to actual airing, however that may have occurred. (Much the same way that Hanna Barbera's Jeannie is depicted in Laff-A-Lympics ads, but she doesn't appear in the cartoons, due to liscensing.) As it is, I don't recall the Toothbrush family ever singing either, but then it has been way before Keeshan went off the air and even then, I didn't watch this cartoon all the time, since I have seen an episode, so they may have sang and I simply don't recall it.

"Brush your teeth, . . . . brush your teeth, . . . round and round, . . . round and round" Yea, to 3 Blind Mice. That sounds familiar. I don't think humans were ever shown, but this was their way of overcoming whatever the obstacle was, they would start in on this ditty. I used to wonder why the show had such a full cast with Bert, Cecily, Neb and Suzy and they constantly focused on Harry and Flash doing everything.

Whoa! Where did I get the owl thing? My mistake - I apologize. Now that you mention it, I do vaguely remember the binoculars guy. Thanks for the heads up!

ok, it's early morning so bear with me. Yes there was "The Toothbrush Family" produced by Southern Star but that was the second version. The original version I have somewhere in my collection. It was produced by Rainbow animation (same people who did Adventures of Captain Nemo) and were I think somewhere between 2-5 minutes long (I'll have to check this when I find the episodes again). Voices were done by Canada's own Len Carlson (Bert Racoon) and Billie Mae Richards (Tenderheart Bear/ Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer). Series ran sometime in the early 70's...perhaps somewhere inbetween 73-75. The "Brush Your Teeth" to the tune of "Three Blind Mice" was a song they sang in the series but was not the intro song. The intro song was more of a narration to a theme. It introduced the characters and ended with the line "..and oh what adventures they have". It's not much but I hope this helps.

Cartoonmadness, that's the Toothbrush Family that I remember; the one with the family themselves (dad Tom, mom Tess, and the kids Tina and Toby, and Gramps, and their co-stars, Ned Nailbrush, Susie Sponge, Flash Flouride, Hot Rod Harry the electric toothbrush, and the couple of Bert Brush and Cicely Comb). I used to watch that one on CBS's Captain Kangaroo as a kid. I didn't even know there was another Toothbrush Family series until i read this thread.

I was thinking about HotRod Harry while I was at work last night . When I got home I decided to search and stumbled onto this site. What a great site this is! I remember the song lyrics pretty good. You guys may have to fill in the blanks since it has been probably 30 years since I last heard it. So here goes: Brush Your Teeth, Round and Round, Circles Small, Gums and All. Moving Your ToothBrush the Round and Round Way, Will Keep Your Gums Healthy From Soft Tooth Decay, So Clean Very Carefully 3 Times A Day, Go Round And Round, Yeah!! (HotRod Harry raspy voice) Round and Round.
