For his work portraying Boots in Nickelodeon's "Dora The Explorer," Regan Mizrahi received the Young Artist Award on Sunday night in the category of Best Young Actor in a Voice-Over Role. Also nominated in the category were Jacob Ewaniuk (The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That; PBS) and Dallas Jokic (Babar and the Adventures of Badou; Nelvana). For Best Young Actress in a Voice-Over Role, nominees included Erika-Shaye Gair (Dinosaur Train; Jim Henson Company) and Alex Torrington (The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That). However, they lost to Jordan Van Vranken, who performs in the live-action Warner Brothers TV series Chadam. The winner of the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor in Live Theater was Alphonso Romero Jones, II for The Lion King. More than 70 child and teen stars from all parts of the United States and Canada, some even from Europe and the Russian Federation, gathered in Studio City, California for the 32nd annual Young Artist Awards. Statuettes were presented for performances in feature films, TV, short films, DVDs and live theater during 2010. It was an historic day of ties, with several categories in which two gained top honors. In past ceremonies, there were hardly any ties. Officials, in fact, said that they remember only three or four in recent years. This year, of the 44 categories, five ended up with tie votes.
