HBO Cartoons

I remember when I was a kid in the early 1980's. HBO had did a special series of cartoons and the cartoons were centered around stories. Does anyone know where to find these cartoons and does anyone know the name of these cartoons.

At first I thought you might be describing Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, but that series debuted in 1995.
