Horror and sci-fi actor Richard Lynch dies at 76 You Must Register Before You Can Post

Actor Richard Lynch, renowned for his work in horror films and science-fiction series, has died at 76, his representative confirmed Wednesday.

"It's with deep sorrow that I learned last night that my client and friend Richard Lynch was found dead at his home in Palm Springs, CA," Mike Baronas told Fox411.com in a statement.

Lynch provided the voice of cyborg Hubert Graft, Rebecca Madison's Chief of Security and main enforcer, in the second season of the syndicated Hearst Entertainment series Phantom 2040 (Ron Perlman voiced Graft in the first).

Richard Hugh Lynch was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 29 (one source cites February 12), 1936.

An accident led to his distinctive appearance, which caused him to play villains and enemies in Hollywood. He reportedly suffered scarring in 1967 after setting himself on fire while under the influence of LSD.

Lynch made over 100 film and TV appearances he made, including such series as Battlestar Galactica and The A-Team, and films including Scarecrow and Rob Zombie's Halloween.

After not hearing from him for several days, actress Carol Vogel dropped by his home Tuesday to find the door ajar. She found his body, Baronas said.

"When she entered, she discovered him lying on the kitchen floor. She proceeded to call 911, although his body was cold and lifeless," Baronas said. "From what I currently understand, no investigation into the cause of his death will be made, as his body was sent directly to a funeral home."

His most recent role was in this year's horror film The Lords of Salem, which Zombie directed.

"I woke up this morning to the news that our friend Richard Lynch has passed away. Richard was great to work with and really gave it his all," a regretful Zombie wrote on his Facebook page.

"I will never forget the way he scared the crap out of the kid actors in Halloween. As soon as I said action! He dove right into his role of Principle Chambers at top volume. He will be missed."

Richard Lynch was once married to Beatrix, with whom he had a child. He is survived by his wife Lily. His younger brother Barry and son Christopher are both actors.
