questions about animation
I have some questions regarding animation. 1. Is it still possible to use traditional forms of animation in film, such as 2-D, stop motion, etc. despite the rise of technology and CGI? 2. Is it also possible to use the same equipment such as the animation stand or the mutliplane camera and more important pencial and paper? 3. I'm not an animator, nor do I want to be one by trade. However, I do want to be a filmmaker and want to make animated films of several kinds. Do I have to be animator in order to direct animated films? Thanks in advance!

I am not an animator, either, but I will give this a shot for you. 1. Is it still possible to use traditional forms of animation in film, such as 2-D, stop motion, etc. despite the rise of technology and CGI? Sort of like asking if you can still walk or ride a horse now that cars and planes have been invented. Of course you can. 2. Is it also possible to use the same equipment such as the animation stand or the mutliplane camera and more important pencial and paper? If I understand the question... no. There is no camera in CG animation.. Pencil and paper- by definition- are replaces by mouse or wacom tablet. 3. I'm not an animator, nor do I want to be one by trade. However, I do want to be a filmmaker and want to make animated films of several kinds. Do I have to be animator in order to direct animated films? Not if you are very rich! I think most if not all animation directors have a base in art.... btu there is no RULE to that effect.
