I remember a cartoon from the early 60's that featured a half boy and half goat or horse and he played a pan flute. it was not any of the things I see posted here. This was a cartoon and not a movie and was earlier than any of the info in these posts. Any ideas?
Another question--there was also a cartoon with a half man and half horse, I believe, that would put his fist in the air and his ring would get struck by some type of lightning and would he then become Hercules or was it something else?

Well, Pan/Satyrs are usually shown playing their flutes, but here are two cartoon shorts Playful Pan (30) and SummerTime (35)
do you remember anything else about the cartoon? "...there was also a cartoon with a half man and half horse, I believe, that would put his fist in the air and his ring would get struck by some type of lightning and would he then become Hercules or was it something else?"

Thanks! Playful Pan sounded familiar but when I read the synopsis for Mighty Hercules, I see a mute satyr was in that and I think that was the "boy" I was thinking about. I guess my memories are a little foggy but thanks, you solved my mystery!

The Mighty Hercules was an Oriolo Studios/Adventure Cartoons for Television production in association with Trans-Lux (perhaps best known as the team behind the syndicated Speed Racer). It was a syndicated series that premiered in September 1963.
