You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Future Is 1962.

No Hanna-Barbera threads would be complete without my thoughts about The Jetsons.

"The Jetsons" was to the future what "The Flintstones" was to the Stone Age. Yet there was something totally different about it.

In 1962, aside from the newly-developed picture phone, none of the gizmos on this show existed. Yet over time, I saw more than half of them become realities. Today, I convert paper documents into electronic ones, which was more or less George Jetson's job on the show. Plus, you can tell by my current signature that I truly liked the show. However, I have yet to see people walk their dogs on treadmills, or buy their own "Rosies" to do the housework.

"The Jetsons" was also the first H-B show to have robots as regular characters. Specifically Rosie, Mac, and Uniblab. Not to mention Elroy and Judy's teachers. The show was a joy to watch, and each member of the clan, Astro included, was amusing. BTW, Astro's tenure on "Space Stars" doesn't count. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Then came the 80's revival. This and two made-for-TV movies, dealt with more space travel, and even time travel. Plus, Judy now had an electronic talking diary, and Elroy an alien pet named Orbitty. I liked these new episodes just as much as the originals.

Finally, I have to say that even though I thoroughly enjoyed "Jetsons: The Movie," I concur with those who say replacing Janet Waldo with Tiffany as the voice of Judy was one of H-B's biggest mistakes.

The Jetsons was one of the pioneering "world of the future" series on television in its day. Although it's filled with zeerust now, The Jetsons had their moments:
    * The Food-o-rack-o-cycle, that could fire off a Dagwood sandwich thirty inches tall with the precision of a surgeon and the speed of a Vegas blackjack dealer.
    * "Boy, these three hour work days are murder," grouses George.
    * Henry Orbit, the building super, can build a robot assistant out a file cabinet, two pipe wrenches, an office chair and a bucket.
    * "Jetson ... YOU'RE FIRED!" Don Trump can't hold a candle to Cosmo Spacely.

Oh, try browsing YouTube for dogs and treadmills. There's one where a dog tries to get a treat at the end of an exercise treadmill, and spends three minutes at it.
And Japan has built a very lifelike robot that mimics the real thing pretty closely. Try not to think about who's buying them, or why.
For now, we have the Roomba. And Swedish chainsaw maker Husqvaarna makes a robot lawnmower that'll trim your yard ... and the neighbors' cat.

To be honest, thanks to the Jetsons, I always wanted a flying car.

24 original episodes were made for the series' only prime time season on ABC from 1962 to 1963, after which NBC had shown the reruns on their Saturday Morning schedule on and off until the late 1970s. 41 new episodes were made for weekday syndication in 1985 plus 10 new episodes for the 1986 season with all of the original voice actors...unfortunately, George O'Hanlon, who played George Jetson, had suffered from serious health problems and was legally blind at the time of voice recording for the 1985/1986 episodes...he had to be given the dialogue through his headphones during the recording sessions to perform from instead of performing from a written script.

By the time "The Jetsons Movie" premiered in 1990, O'Hanlon, Daws Butler (as Elroy, Mr. Cogswell, and Henry the maintenance man), and Mel Blanc (Mr. Spacely) had all passed away. O'Hanlon and Blanc completed recording their voices for the movie and the movie was released after their deaths. Patrick Zimmerman replaced Daws Butler as Elroy's voice.

    Cute show and clever gadgets.
