    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Could it be... The Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, from the 1997 Don Bluth feature Anastasia?

Oh, wow, that was stupendously close. The Grand Duchess does indeed get rescued from the Imperial Palace by the servant boy Dmitri. However, the second instance is less a rescue and more a kidnapping, since Dmitri is determined to have Grand Duchess Marie meet Anya, who is the genuine long-lost Princess Anastasia. Also Dmitri simply runs off with Anastasia, rather than full-on dying. However, I must applaud how very close this answer came to the Mystery Character target; you're on a parallel track of thinking, certainly.

    Cupcake clues time.

    7) Don Bluth. With Gary Goldman and John Pomeroy, too.

    8) The late Judith Barsi. Much too soon.

    9) Rags to proper dresses story.

Thanks for those last three clues, OUB. It's Anne-Marie, from "All Dogs Go To Heaven."

Right as rain, this is Anne-Marie, the adorable orphan from the Don Bluth feature All Dogs Go To Heaven. Rescued from that lonely room in Carface's casino, then rescued from the sinking boat, both times by Charlie Barkin.

I'll add on your newest +1, Em, while you pose the next Mystery Character.

Thanks, OUB. Now for one I've never posted before:

    1. My animated series features four kids and a dog, but isn't "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?"

    2. The show has a Christmas episode in an unlikely setting.

    3. Unlike my henchman, whom I keep berating, I refuse to inflict harm on those itty bitty kids.

    Last three clues:

    4. My henchman and I are pirates by trade.

    5. I'm the one who introduces the little protagonists.

    6. Of all the animated series from my studio to premiere in 1966, I guess you could say mine was juvenile compared to the ones about an outer space Batman, a crime fighting robot, and a superhero rock band.

Okay, from clue #6, the production studio has to be Hanna-Barbera, who fielded Space Ghost, Frankenstein Junior and The Impossibles. But who are these pirates? There's Clue Club's meddling kids, but they have two dogs named Woofer and Whimper. Josie And The Pussycats? No, that's a cat named Sebastian. Speed Buggy? No dog at all. Don Karnage from Talespin? No, he'd definitely hurt children and women and pretty much anybody, and he's the wrong studio, too. Sam Scurvy, with his submarine cum island? Well, he wants Doctor Dolittle intact, but he's from the wrong studio, namely Depatie-Freleng of Pink Panther fame.

    Well, you got me gronched.

This must be Captain Skyhook from The Space Kidettes. Yes, they have a dog.

Glowworm, you got it. Good job. :). Now to explain the clues:

    1. The Space Kidettes are Scooter, Snoopy, Countdown, Jenny, and Pup Star.

    2. The Christmas episode is "The Flight Before Christmas," and it takes place in space, just like all the other episodes.

    3. Even though Skyhook is the main villain, he merely wants their treasure map, and comes up with ways to get it without harming them. Static, on the other hand.....

    4 and 5 are self-explanatory.

    6. While "Space Ghost And Dino Boy," and "Frankenstein Jr. And The Impossibles" had rather mature adventures, the Space Kidettes were meant for small fry.

So you may post the next character, Glowworm.

    I got one.
    1. This is a fan animation made during 2009 to accompany a classic anti-Christmas song.
    2. In it, I proudly list all the bad things I did this year.
    3. Unlike the original version of this song (this one is actually a cover), I invite a burglar into the house and have him sing the last chorus with me!

Well, seeing as how no one else answered, I will. It's the naughty little boy from the animated video of "Nuttin' For Christmas." The cover version is the one by Stan Freberg.

    Yep. It's from this video.

While the original song sung by a very young Barry Gordon ends with a warning out there to be good, or like him you'll get nothing for Christmas, this little guy allows a burglar into the house--which he has clearly done before, and they sing the final chorus together while the burglar robs the house.

Thanks, Glowworm. Now for one that's gone untapped until now:

    1. My animated special is based on another infamous Christmas novelty song.

    2. Unlike the song, the title character survives her ordeal, but despite this, I take over the family business.

    3. While I'm a card playing, beer drinking male in the song, I'm a woman in the cartoon.

Might as well do it then.
It's Cousin Mel from "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer"
I actually love this song--it's just so outlandishly silly.

Thanks, and I actually came up with something.
    1. I look like a sweet elderly lady, but I used to be the warden of a prison.
    2. Me, my grandson and his bunny buddy go back there on Christmas to spread a little holiday cheer.
    3. Of course, one of the inmates has prepared a jail break.
