    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

    Hi,
I am trying to remember a cartoon I saw in the mid to late 80s (possibly early 90s). I’m not sure if I even remember the premise of the show, just part of one episode. Basically it was about some animal kids out in the forest. They get into trouble (not sure what) and they get helped by some forest rangers (also animals, I think one was a raccoon). The kids think the rangers are the coolest thing and… well that’s about it. I think the kids want to be like them or something. I think the show was about the kids and the forest rangers were just for the episode. I also remember that everyone had a “modern” look to them. Like one of the rangers wore sunglasses.

Beyond this I’m not sure what else I remember. I somehow have it in my head that this was a special or limited series. Basically, I saw the show once and it just vanished. I also seem to recall that I saw it weekday mornings on syndication, not on network. We didn’t have cable. The closest thing I’ve been able to find is “Sylvanian Families” but I don’t think that’s it. The episode guides that I’ve found are incomplete so I haven’t been able to rule it out. I’m not sure if people were in the show or not.

So that’s about it. I’m not sure how this entered my head, but it’s been bugging me for a few weeks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's most likely "Buttons And Rusty," about a pair of forest animals who befriend Ranger Jones, or "Jonesey," as they call him.

Thank you for your reply. I checked the specials on youtube and, unfortunately, this isn't it. I remember animation style not as "cartoony" if that makes any sense. The forest rangers (at least that's the best way I can describe them) weren't people. They were animals too. I just remember they had to rescue someone (or something) and had to use a climbing rope. It's strange that I can picture this one scene so well, but I don't even remember the premise of the show! I think the rangers were just in the one episode.

I think I found it! I think it's an episode of "Maple Town" called "The Children's Forest Patrol". I managed to find the last part of the episode on Youtube. It didn't have the scene I was thinking of, but it does show the rangers (raccoons like I thought). The date is right (1987) and it did air in syndication. But I was wrong about it being a special or limited series. I guess I never really watched it. Nothing else is familiar. I remember the song though, probably from toy commercials.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I found some additional information about "Maple Town" that I'd thought I'd share. I found this on Youtube. It goes into a lot of detail about the show and toy line, but what I found interesting at the ~30:00 mark was that in April of '87 some episodes were aired on broadcast TV for a short time. This explains why I remember the show even though we didn't have cable and the show aired on Nickelodeon. It also explains why I remember the show appearing out of nowhere and then just vanishing.
