    Other Side Of Maleficent

    I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival.     If you have these cartoons on DVD (and, if you know the exact timings, it sounds like you already do), all you need is a screen-capture tool (I think one comes free with Windows) that will make frame-grabs when you have the DVD player in pause mode. The frame-grabs would be saved either as PNG or JPG files.

    Or, if the cartoons are uploaded on YouTube you can do the same thing by pausing the playback.

    If you don't have a screen-capture tool, there's one called "SnagIt" (Google it) that you can purchase for $70.00 and download and install to your computer. There may be others that are free... you can try looking online for them.

    There is a free one called Fraps. There is the free and a paid version (I don't know the price). It's very easy to use and I think it's still available online.

    ~ Howdy, Folks! For all users with Windows machines and access to PhotoShop or Windows Paint, I just set up the screen frame I want and then use the PrntScrn button to capture the image into the buffer, switch to PhotoShop or Paint, open a new file and then paste the capture into the file. You can then crop the file and save it in various graphic formats.

    ^ That's a splendid method that I likewise use. Such images usually are taken from DVD's, and inherit the same high image quality.

    Around here, Portable Network Graphic files (*.png) preserve that quality while minimizing file size. Ideal is 300 pixels wide. For images in television format, which is 4:3, the image becomes 300 by 225 pixels. For images in theatrical format, which is 16:9, the image becomes 300 by 169 pixels. Our admin, Dave Koch, likes to have illustrative images from cartoons included in the listings of the Big Cartoon Database. It makes a big difference over plain text to have a sample image or two to jog viewers' memories. :censored: :sick:
