You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

What did I think of "Foofur?" Well, to quote the theme song, "He's the best. Above the rest." My sentiments exactly.

Foofur, you see, was a blue bloodhound who never, ever did anything foolish. As a result, he certainly earned my admiration. Each week, I tuned in to see what he, the other dogs, and the cat Fencer would get themselves into. They always fooled Mrs. Escrow, but never her Chihuaha Pepe.

The episodes were truly memorable. I remember once, Foofur's niece Rocki presented herself as a female Scrappy Doo when she decided to pick a fight with another puppy. Her father, Tugboat, encouraged this behavior, but Foofur openly opposed it, calling it "uncool and uncalled for." But Rocki had to learn the hard way.

There were either two short episodes, or one full length one each work. My favorite half-hour one was "Mad Dogs And Englishmen," in which Foofur, Louis, and Fencer flew all the way to London to save Annabelle from jewel smugglers.

The show ended after two seasons, but even that wasn't long enough for me. I know, I know. If I liked it so much, why didn't I buy the videotapes that were available for a while? Cuz I was overly concerned about what other people would say if they saw me buying kid stuff.

While I was able to identify most of the dogs' breeds, I initially had trouble with Fritz-Carlos and Hazel. But now, I've concluded that Fritz-Carlos was a Miniature Schnauzer, and Hazel, despite having tan fur and blonde hair, a Great Pyrenees. If I'm wrong about this, feel free to correct me.

So "Foofur" was another H-B production that I rate high. Oh, if I could just see it again.

Trivia Question 13; Name Hazel's old flame who rescued Fritz-Carlos and Rocki's friend Augie from a house fire after initially presenting himself as a coward.

    Answer: Kirk.

Created by Phil Mendez who also created "Kissyfur" for DIC Productions. This series was a co-production of Hanna-Barbera and Sepp S.A. which also owned the rights to "The Smurfs".

Frank Welker used a laid-back Bing Crosby voice impersonation as Foofur's voice. Don Messick, Scooby Doo's voice himself, played Pepe the chihuahua, who threatened to reveal the presence of Foofur and his pals squatting in the vacant home to his (and the home's) owner, Mrs. Escrow (Susan Silo) but was always thwarted one way or another.

The dogs had distinct personalities. Foofur was cool and in charge. "Rocki-girl" (Christina Lange) was feisty. Fritz-Carlos (Jonathan Schmock) was debonair and called everyone "Fantastic" the same way Billy Crystal's Fernando called everyone "Marvelous", Hazel (Pat Carroll, who played the dog-hating Katrina Stoneheart in the 1980s "Pound Puppies" series) was motherly, Louis (Dick Gautier) was tough and outspoken, and Annabelle (Susan Tolsky) wasn't too bright.

Fencer the cat (Eugene Williams) was a friend of the dogs who shared living quarters and who was getting always beaten up by the Rat Brothers, Burt (Bill Callaway), Sam (Chick Vennera), and Baby (Peter Cullen). Dolly (Susan Blu) was Foofur's sweet girlfriend. Mel (David Doyle) and Harvey (Michael Bell) were the dog catchers in the neighborhood who never caught any of Foofur's gang.

Rather sophisticated humor from this pack of dogs.

Actually, the Rat Brothers were Sam, Chucky, and Baby. Burt, as I recall, was another dog, and Foofur's rival.

    Thanks for the correction.

Burt (Bill Callaway) was a rather stuffy rival (Collie) to Foofur in competing for a date with Dolly. Callaway used that same stuffy Burt voice in his appearance as a party guest in Tony Lacey's (Paul Simon) Los Angeles house in the Woody Allen film "Annie Hall". Callaway appeared with actor Jim McKrell, who hosted the 1970s game show "Celebrity Sweepstakes", as Hollywood executive types/party guests who wanted to attend "good meetings". Note that Bill Callaway's character referred to the characters of "Charlie" and "Freddy"...Callaway played the voice of Charlie Owl (replacing Bob Holt after Season 1) in "The New Zoo Revue" children's program...Charlie's best friend was Freddy the Frog in the show.

Allen Melvin played Chucky the rat.
