You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of "Alexander's Ragtime Band," by Irving Berlin. He was just 22 when it first appeared.

Thought not Berlin's first hit, it drew more publicity than any other song of the 1910s. A million copies of the sheet music were sold in the first year alone. Berlin bought his mother a house out of the royalties, which eventually topped $30,000.

Versions of "Alexander's Ragtime Band" have been recorded by (among others) The Andrews Sisters, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Bee Gees, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, George Formby, Al Jolson, Liberace, Billy Murray, Liza Minnelli, Sid Phillips, Bessie Smith and Julie Andrews. Even the Bee Gees used the music in their 1974 tour.

It was referenced in cartoons as far back as 1926 in Alexander's Ragtime Band, a silent entry in Artclass Pictures' Popular Song Parodies series! This series based its story lines on the popular music of the day.

Other toons to feature the tune:

Broadway Folly (Oswald the Lucky Rabbit; Walter Lantz Productions, 1930)

Alexander's Ragtime Band (Screen Songs; Fleischer Studios, 1931)
Three distinct segments: 1) A dog is taking a music lesson from a lion when a mouse starts playing as well. 2) The "Bouncing Ball" segment, consisting of the words to the title song. 3) Some kooky animation of an "Instrument Orchestra," in which the instruments are playing themselves, and a whole cast of animals march to the last chorus.

    Philharmaniacs(Kartune; Famous Studios, 1952)
Singalong about an all-animal orchestra, spoofing the musicians and various instruments of the orchestra. The singalong tune is "Alexander's Ragtime Band," complete with the bouncing ball for two verses and full animated words on the third verse.

"Alexander's Ragtime Band" was heard on the Simpsons episodes Simpsons Bible Stories (1999), The Great Louse Detective (2002 -- performed by Dan Castellaneta) and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bangalore(2006).
