    Other Side Of Maleficent

    I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Funnyman Will Ferrell and partner Adam McKay are working on bringing back everyone’s favorite stone-age family. The duo’s production company Gary Sanchez Productions is in development on a new Flintstones animated feature.

    Disney To Feast In France

    The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Going way back, King Leonardo and Odie, an actual lion ruling a kingdom, aided greatly by Odie Colognie, a skunk.
    Heyyy, It's the King, a parody of Happy Days, has a lion in a leather jacket in the style and manner of Arthur "Fonz" Fonzarelli. He's called The King, though he's not of The Realm.
    One episode of I. M. Weasel has him communicate with the Queen of Yurp. It's even nuttier than it sounds.
    A lion named King Moonracer rules over the Island of Misfit Toys, as seen in the 1964 stop-motion animation Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
    Equestria is ruled by Queen Celestia in the Gen-4 version of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

    Oh, and there's a special guest appearance by the King of France in the 1958 Tom and Jerry cartoon "Royal Cat Nap." Tom Cat, in his handsome tabard, must guard the King while His Majesty takes a royal nap. Rival mice Jerry and Nibbles, of course, monkey-wrench that duty.

    There was a Tiny Toons and Animaniacs episodes that had caricatures of The British Royal Family.

    And in the Bugs Bunny cartoon "Hare We Go," Christopher Columbus tries to convince King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain that the world is round, and that by sailing due West, he can reach the rich shores of the Orient by circling the globe. The King is unconvinced, but the Queen is willing to hear him out. Bugs Bunny manages to produce proof that the world is round, using a baseball (which wasn't due to be invented for another 400 years).

    And with Indigenous...I mean...Columbus Day coming soon...this cartoon won't fly because of Columbus' Italian accent...though I find it funny (surprising no one is complaining about Mario's stereotypical Italian accent...yet).

    We also can't forget the 1973 classic Robin Hood with King John the Worst and King Richard who's also a lion.
